My dad (irish-US born in germany who spoke fluently as a native, several european languages could have been used as a petfect german soldier. Living since 1939 in north france german speakers area, He escape to be forced to join Wehrmacht in 43...44. Then he joined US army and finished the war in 101 US AB.. In bastognes then germany and Tirol Austria. He was lucky... Not as lot of others who left their life to liberate europe from nazi regime. That's why I could come on earth in 50ties !

Ja, auch für mich ein großartiger und sehr herzergreifender Film. Heute bin ich ein alter Mann und glaube nun beim ansehen solcher tiefsinniger Filme zu verstehen, warum mich mein Vater (der damals auch Frontsoldat war), als ich Kind war und wie andere Kinder auch so manche Dummheiten machte, nie geschlagen hat.

I am a great fan of War movies and this one of the best movies I have ever watched.....I am in British Gurkha battalion and I have served in Afghanistan for 2 years and I know what war is and the challenges you face.....

Great movie! And rare to Hollywood productions it even has respect for the germans, not depicting them as simple, dumb beasts. Showing all soldiers as victims of war, without exxaggeration on heroism is really great. 11/10🌟

That was a really loaded, powerful movie.. a lot more than i had expected. It touched upon so many aspects of war all within the span of a film. And the bound between the soldier and 'Emily' must be truly exceptional and deep from the getgo. I love how in this movie everyone speaks their own language, makes it so much more real.

A great little movie. As a child of the 50's I knew lots of Men who had fought in Italy,France,North Africa and the pacific war . Many never spoke of their exploits but the resistance reminded me of a friend of my Dads ,who was a British double agent,serving both England and Poland (he received the polish medal of Valour) while acting as a German Officer. I never thought much of the movies made in the 60's and son on,because to me the acting was wooden. This movie proved to me that Movies with real passion can still be made. If really gritty war stories want ot be seen,check out the Russian efforts.

Thank you for such a beautiful movie. I understand many battles were very different and many had different rolls to play, both sides lost so many decent men. My great Granddad's diary is incredible reading but for me hard to grasp what he and others really went through, these movies go some way to filling in gaps.

My great grandfather fought for Portugal on WW1 My grandfather fought for France on WW2 My father fought for the independence of my country against Portugal and I fought in the Angolan civil war. I’ve seen all the Saints and Soldiers movies and each one was great. This one is my favorite partly because my family has strong connection to the paratroopers. My great grandpa was a paratrooper and fought with the 2nd Battalion, 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment in Algeria and Tunisia. He later served with the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division in Sicily. He was then transferred to the 101st Airborne Division and fought in Normandy, Holland (Market Garden), the Battle of the Bulge, and possibly Alsace in February 1945 after the Germans had been pushed back after the Battle of the Bulge. He also served in Germany and Central Europe. He volunteered for the Army Service Forces as a railroad operator. He came home and passed away in 2006 before I got a chance to meet him.

Kind of guy yur great gd pa my dad could have met. He joined 101 AB in 44...bastognes...then germany (Bavaria and Tirol Austria) where he was born. My gd parents were irish-US who lived since 1918 in germany. They flood in france in 39. My dad then was used by US army cose he fluently spoke several european languages : he spent his youth travelling with my gd pa in whole northern europe. Then he became CEO of all IS army basis in north east france until De Gaule said "US go home". I remember when I was a kid... Walls Painted with this words. He stayed in france where I was born myself and ended his life here. As my gd parents. Am living nowadays in normandy close to O'maha and Utah beaches. Gonna have a visit there... again, next june. So many young guys died there on landing beaches. Tks for yur posts... And yur great gd pa 's contribution for our freedom allover europe

Or "egg snake" by Ingmar Bergman, or italian version of same description of fascist italy : "a particular day" with M. Mastroianni and S Loren. People didn t change their opinion suddenly in a day.! This is fantasy... Propaganda from post war allies.

This was a great movie it brought tears to my eyes. Why do we fight? Why do we hate? Is it because it's what our elites tell us to do? To fight their wars? While they hide behind their desks...We are all human. We must learn to understand and respect each other. Instead, they have us hate each other to follow their own narrative that they are selling to us...and unfortunately for most...we buy into it... At first most of the Germans believed Hitler, but then they realized their mistake of blindly following a madman...and yet this seems to happen to this day...following corrupt politicians who only see the world as they want it, and we as the pawns, are expendable...my great grandmother was a survivor of the Holocaust...I remember as a little girl her telling me what she went through, what she saw...and even she said not all Germans are bad...she forgave them...and unfortunately, that ugly beast is back, but now disguised as something else...they want to erase history to rewrite it to fit their own narrative and sell you out...don't listen to them. Think for yourself, don't let someone else think for you...The heart can see further than the eye can...God bless you all ❤

The Filthy 13…true soldiers. They weren’t the best behaved, especially Jake McNiece (who is in the same Native American tribe as mine, the Choctaw), but they were dedicated and meant business when it came to their job as paratroopers. McNiece made 4 combat jumps in under a year - D-Day, Market Garden, the Bastogne Pathfinder Mission, and Operation Varsity (as an observer with the 17th Airborne). Only 3 of the original 13 survived Operation Overlord, with the rest either killed or captured. McNiece passed away back in 2012 I believe. The last survivor passed in 2018 or maybe 2020, but I’m not to sure what year both of them passed. I won’t get into this too deep, but thought I’d mention it. This is good. I think most of us understood the German Officer was not shoot by the American in the woods. And we just awaited his presence. Nice it took long time so you almost forgott him and that he fronted the Mohikan soldier instead of the American officer. The Mohikan was a killing machine and after the German saved his life he finally got feelings back that War is a disaster for all parts and not something heroic. Anyway a very good script based on true story, Thanks

Back to back movies have been very good, both depicting war, a change from the list presented on KZread. Sadness of war and even today 2024 we have war in Ukraine, humans never learn what tragedy it brings to families of the dying. This was a great movie, not expected.

I bought the Saint and Soldiers in the first movie - again an epic tale that we need to watch and than this as well - I am glad that it is again a success of many untold stories and I highlighted this to the guys in the History Underground You tube channel - that this was the one that I found as I bought it some years ago - and the story is there told as well in to days visiting the sites etc etc - so go on watching it - so interesting 🥰😀😀🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Man, this movie was so much to take in. I'm glad the protagonist survived. But why would they leave Nuemann's body behind? I like to think that maybe later on in the years after the war, the protagonist would come back, find Nuemann's body, then return the remains to his family for proper Burial and comfort them

Basically the German officer had to sacrifice himself to help the American soldier since he was wounded also, but had to used his bandages to help him live..very touching scene between the 2 Men in uniform.

Based on a true story derived from letters home of Harland "Bud" Curtis. His son, L Vaughn Curtis, wrote a book called "Letters Home: A Paratroopers Story". The setting is the Operation Dragoon action of 517th Parachute Regimental Combat Team in the invasion of southern France two months after D-Day. The real Curtis survived the war.

"Sargeant Jones, Bravo Company !" Back in WWII and the Korean war, the phonetic word for the letter B was "Baker," not "Bravo." The script writer or producer should've hired a better technical adviser, or at least did a little historical research on the subject.....

Also, when checking out the building when the German grenade explodes the soldiers go through the rooms calling out "clear". Was that call not introduced by the military until after WW2 & perhaps Korea?

What’s sad about this war most German soldiers were patriots fighting for their country, but were fighting under false pretenses being lied too by their own government.

Brian Brenner Exactly... That s what I said above, in some comments. My maternal side relatives... Opponents to Adolf in germany. They were sent to jail then vanished in KG... Or sent on russian front. 80% disapeared like that. Only a numerous bunch of orphans were left alive in 45 from this numerous Familie.
