Opera e produzione veramente notevoli.Saint Saens grandissimo.

Très belle production franco espagnol Compiegne /Liceu distribution de rêve avec en tête la divine Montserat Caballe en Catherine d’Aragon reine déchue lors d’une de ses dernières apparitions sur scène. Dommage que le son soit tant parasité ! Cela reste un unique document de l’œuvre complètement oubliée et de la présence incomparable de la diva catalane qui nous manque tant.

The tenor is amazing!

The best recording of the original French version of Henry VIII.

Strange that they changed Henrys in the middle of the performance! Still it is great to see this fine Opera that is done so seldom. I appreciated the: period costumes, having an attractive Gomez and Anne, the Star casting, and including a very well done ballet. The sound, and the acting, weren't great but this was a good, deeply Spanish role for Montserrat Caballe. The plot makes better sense when the Opera is not cut, but it is a long one. That last scene at the end is just pure fireworks. I think there is some terrific music in this, and I would love to see it done more frequently. Thanks very much Liceu! And appreciation to Monserrat Caballe for her long and brilliant career.
