Good intro to the Wave. Be sure to actually downhaul the downhaul. You should loop the line down though the cleat and back up through the eyelet in the sail. Then pull down really hard and use a proper clear hitch to tie it off at the cleat.

I didn't realize that was the way to tie down the downhaul - thanks for sharing!!

I'm not sure if your righting line is setup correctly, looking at the manual I believe it shows it connected to the brow crossbar, and the extra line being stored in the pocket. It look's weird that it is tight like that around the mast. I regularly use mine - kzread.info/dash/bejne/YnZ_2Ziwqq-Xcqw.htmlsi=99EkUwp_K-xVKJYx&t=112 and not sure how it would work on your Hobie

I have never had to use the righting line on this boat - when I bought it, there was one line across the stern, and it was a bit loose. I added the other one down the side and across the front just to have something else to hold on to. Thanks for the comment and your video!

@@upnorthguy At least once or twice a season I put mine over, so I’m regularly practicing the capsize drill. And when I have passengers or victims I walk them thru the drill so they don’t panic too much. I regularly push my hobie to edge and typically only go out on the extreme days.
