I encounter similar challenges which you share with us in all your videos. Glad I found your channel. This is a sail I'd love to make. An ancestor came from Bute as best I can tell in the late 17th or early 18th century on his way to cross the pond via Ulster. Love to sail the waters around Scotland as well as the rest of the British Isles. Enjoyed your travels vicariously.

Thanks Albert. Sailing short handed is defiantly a confidence thing and the more I have got to know the boat the more confident I have become. But never too confident. 🤣

Not interested in the refitting.I think you're under estimating the time scale. Old adage Mite is Wright.

Did you put a backing plate on the inside of the locker under the winch?

No, I thought it should have had one so I checked this with the supplier and he confirmed you don’t need one.

Nice, will be good to join you virtually for this trip.....very jealous!! By the way if you drop Robin at Inverkip he can get the train into Glasgow from there. A taxi from Largs will be £££!

Is this getting late in the sailing season. It must be getting cold the further you sail north. Thanks for sharing your adventure.

Hi John. This was filmed in August/Early September when the weather was better. There is always a delay between the filming and release mainly due to the time they take to edit.

That's it for installing winches? You don't need a backing plate on the other side of the fiberglass? Maybe they made the fiberglass especially thick there.

Hi Charles. I did think that too but yes the fibreglass is thick and there are no plates under the other winches either.

Rather than buy horrible UHT milk for an emergency supply, Evaporated milk is far better tasting when a tin is made up to 1 Ltr with water. Also has a far longer shelf life (often years) and the tin won't get squashed and leak in a locker. A tin in my cupboard has been there for 2 years and still has 6 months on its best before, not use by, date.

The winches looked like they needed lubricating (although I've been wrong before) 😁

I did check and they are nicely lubricated.

Don’t forget to remove the labels from your tinned food supplies and sharpie pen what it is on the tin.
