This is my Adventure Travel Vlog Series. I am travelling around the planet without ever using motorized transport. I started this journey in Toronto, Canada in July of 2015 and intend to circumnavigate back to where I started.
In this youtube tv series I will share my day to day experiences of what it’s like to travel around the earth under my own power (with help from some wind and currents too!). Epic adventure videos I’m happy to share with you!
SPOILER ALERT:!!
I started the journey in a canoe and have since trimaraned, hand cycled, pogosticked, tricycled, skiied, rafted, kayaked, SUPed, rowed, bicycled, sailed, walked, and danced half way around the planet.

I love the excitement on Lake Superior. We just returned from sail camping for 4 days with 2 Sunfish and a Hobie 16. We had everything from calm, to 28 knots+ and 4 foot waves. We struggled to leave soon enough the last day when baseball sized hail was predicted.

BEAUTIFUL !!! Love this adventure you've undertaken in a beautiful part of the country. I've had a Hobie Island since 2007 and taken it all over the country. One suggestion if you don't mind is you should install what we call "keep out" lines which is a line from the bow to the akas which will keep them from accidentally folding in in the event those aka pins fail which they occasionally will. Once an aka pin fails when you're sailing, it will quickly fold up and capsize which would be bad in the cold waters of Lake Superior. The side with your tramp isn't such a worry as much as the side without the tramp. I've known people who had this happen to them and it can ruin your day. Keep out lines are easy to add and a good way to harden your boat. I hope you don't mind me making this suggestion. Thanks for posting the video. I really enjoyed it.

Thanks for everything Jim! Especially the suggestion. It would have been great to have that extra security while I was out there. This isn't actually my boat and I haven't been on it for some time but hopefully another owner who looks at this will put your suggestion to use. Thanks again! btw the previous two episodes are also in a Hobie. Enjoy!

Keep out lines--thanks for the tip, Jim. Will try to figure out how to install them on my A-I. I sail out of Long Beach, CA, and get offshore a few miles most days. One of the things that's been keeping me from attempting a Catalina crossing is having the boat fold up on me unexpectedly (I've had a forward aka pop out of the main hull a couple of times; switched sides and that seemed to cure it but it's still worrisome). Keep out lines seem like good insurance.

Hello from southern California! Just discovered your channel a few days ago and am catching up. Lake Superior looks like nice cruising ground for the Adventure Island. I had a 2011 A-I (like the one you're sailing), then bought the upgraded version in 2015 -- made a BIG difference in every way: faster, drier (a little bit!), and more comfortable. The new seat is amazing; gets you out of the water and, like the rest of the boat, it's bulletproof. Longer amas, bigger sail, and a daggerboard that retracts completely into the goat. I hope somewhere on your journey you'll get a chance to give one a try! Thanks for all the great videos.

It's always fun to push the TI to the limit and then in contrast, to just peddle along in light air ... great exercise. But ... I find that in heavy air, I am better off rolling up the trampolines so that heavy wind doesn't get under them. You can always furl the sail, but the sail area in the trampolines is all or nothing. ln heavy air, I prefer nothing.

Where have you seen the biggest and most impressive thunderstorms?

Good question and tough to answer. Where I am now close to the equator gets a ton of thunderstorms but they pail in comparison to seeing a massive storm front coming your way in the middle of the ocean. Not a thunderstorm though. That light show we experienced on the Kampar would definitely be up there!
