This is the best Clawhammer channel on the net..The walk through videos are so logical,easy to follow and understand. where other KZread channels fail..After viewing these videos I have dusted off my old banjo and now I am flying at a fast pace to my surprise...Thanks Hilarie,,keep them coming...jackdaw 🕊

jack daw..read a lot of kafka when younger..a jackdaw is kavka in czech..just noticed the post following yours is from a finch.....agree she is very good, clear teacher...

I almost have it! But I always sit my banjo in my lap and have the neck high up. Any reason for the right leg instead?

If I may... There’s no real reason for placing it on the leg, per se; it’s mostly a matter of comfort/personal preference. But, that being said, moving the banjo to the right leg does incidentally place your right hand closer to the neck (since you’re shifting everything over), so if you’re wanting to play over the scoop to get that more subdued tone you are now more in that position. You can play the scoop from your lap, but positioning the thing on your leg kind of naturally tucks the instrument closer to you. If all that makes sense. (Hilarie might have a different or better explanation, but until then...)
