Saigon FREE Walking Tour|4.5hours Worth it⁉️

FREE Walking tour is one of our top priority activities while visiting a new country/city. While it is NOT exactly free, the tour guide usually survives on the tips collected at the end of the tour. So is really up to you to pay what is worth/affordable to you.
We usually have our Free Walking Tour at the beginning our our trip. It is the quickest way to learn about the history and culture of a country. And as a bonus, the tour guide will always point you to some of the best local eateries and point of interest along the way. You’ll be surprise by how a insignificant rooftop has a piece of important history.
In this episode we explore Saigon with Mr. Thanh from Guru Walk. While we had attended many Free walking tour in the past, we can safely say Mr Thanh is one of the top walking tour guide on our list. You can see the passion in his eyes while he is showing you his country.
To us, Mr Thanh has shown us the what is beyond the chaotic traffic and beautiful buildings. With his experienced story telling, Saigon to us, is now alive.

@@calvinandmint No that's totally wrong info. It's not his Chinese name at all. He never married. When he stayed in China, he used a fake name called Lý Thụy. Ho Chi Minh is a very much later name when he came back to Vietnam and got jailed in China, none of these name are his real name

@@calvinandmint Many South Vietnamese will be unhappy with the tour guide's comment on the previous Republic of South Vietnam, a government that existed in Central and South Vietnam before 1975 with Saigon being the capital city. South Vietnam received support from the US while the North received support from USSR-CCP. After Saigon's government's collapse in 1975, the North took control of Saigon and changed the city's name to HCM and then called the previous government of Saigon a "puppet" - it's the propaganda that they write in the school textbooks nowadays. Many Vietnamese people became refugees when they left Vietnam on boats to escape communism and find freedom (Boat People). You can do research about this.

Thank you for sharing @grass_lily. I think the context is lost a bit in the editing. Mr.Thant is telling us the point of view of the North Vietnamese government then. It is not his opinion that South Vietnamese government is a puppet to the American. 😊 but Thank you for the feedback.🙌🙌🙆🏻🙆🏻‍♀️

My dad had served in the ARVN.I am proud of him.The winners are writing the history text book.If you are living in Vietnam, you would know why I am using the word “puppet”. Sincerely, Thanh
