A live performance of the Palestinian Folk song 'Ya talia'een Al Jabal' (translates; you who go out to the mountain) from the performance, "Songs From Palestine", live at the Jazz Cafe in London.
About this song
This song is a message that the Palestinian women used to pass on to inmates related to them, while visiting them in Israeli occupation prisons. The women used to add the letter " L " between the letters of some words in order to make the meaning vague and prevent the wardens, who understood Arabic, from understanding those messages.

This song is composed of two tarweedeh songs which the women folk used to sing with secret messages in them for their men who were imprisoned. By adding an extra letter laam to the words they would send secret messages to their men on how they would escape.
