Padma Shri Kalaimamani Dr Kadri Gopalnath is a pioneer in playing traditional Carnatic music on the Jazz instrument, the Alto Saxophone. Over the years he also modified the instrument to enable him to play intricate classical ragas on it. Dr Gopalnath came to Bhagawan as a 15-year-old in 1965 when he and his family were granted an audience, and Bhagawan blessed him before he began his musical journey. Shortly thereafter he met his guru who tutored him in playing the Saxophone. Subsequently, he has also been blessed with the opportunity to perform in Bhagawan’s presence many times.
In this week’s Sri Sathya Sai Sangeet we present a song from his rendition in the Sai Kulwant Hall on Jul 12, 2014, during the Guru Poornima Celebrations.
