they do it, another umpire Pascal Maria said to Gulbis "let me finish and then you give me shit". it's very unfair that players are penalised for swearing while umpires not. like in school between teacher and pupil...

Safin knows how to handle the situation. He can be hilarious at the same time. Love this player!

Very patient crowd I must say, can't imagine how the crowd at Roland Garros would've reacted.

If I did not heard what Marat speaks, I was sure that the referee owed a money to him

It was funny to watch a safin outburst. There was no reason to drag this out as long as he did, think it was to calm down his fury and anger so he could concentrate properly. The argument got more and more silly as it went along.

The commentator's actually very clear. Egging on the crowd when they start to boo = unhelpful. Having an argument with the umpire - in this case, seemed to help.

In the video he doesn't even bother to crack a racket (which is almost standard procedure for an angry Safin), he barely shouts and he climbs the umpire's chair because they couldn't hear each other because of the noise the crowd was making. You can't call that "Furious". Compare that to Fed insuling the Umpire in the USO 09 Final or Bagdatis breaking 4 rackets in a row...thats furious...

@breek1 you need to watch the video again. ferrero clearly stopped immediately after the return. and if you believe he should have stopped playing in the time between the serve hitting the ground and then hitting ferrero's racquet, you're clueless. the confusion was the line judge calling the ball out at 0:08. and I don't understand the problem here anyway, if the serve was out, the serve was out. have some class. that being said safin was my favorite player

The call was late and with Ferrero continuing to play and Marat about to win the point, plus that Marat says there was no call, suspecting Ferrero induced the stop in the game. Pay attention!
