There are estimated more than 100 leopards living in block 1of yala National Park, and yeah you guys are correct it’s very unethical the way jeep drivers behave in the park specially when it comes to leopard sightings😔 the officials must band the use of mobile phones inside the park for the betterment of the wild life, plus the maximum speed that you can drive inside the the park is 50kmph anything beyond that is against the law.

🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 for highlighting not just the unbelievable wildlife in Yala but also the side we don’t usually see in the travel vlogs - the crazy amounts of jeeps vying for a glimpse of one leapard. I hope this episode will bring about some much needed regulations for sustainable tourism so these usually shy elusive creatures can live stress free in their only habitat on the island. Very grateful to The Budgeteers for speaking up for the majestic elephants in chains used to entertain tourists, and also for the wild ones being fed just for a photo op. They in turn become a nuisance and we know what happens next. This was by far my very favorite episode of your travels in SL. 🙏🏽

I first came across you guys in Series 2. I binge watched it & loved it. While I enjoyed the adventures on the road, my only criticism was that it didn't really show the locations very well. It was mostly about hitchhiking: more about the route than the destination. Series 3 rectified that shortcoming. Series 4 is even better!!
Just watched your video in MEXICO from two years ago and we love what you guys are doing! When are you guys coming overs to South America. WE are doing what you guys are doing as well and we've done it through out COLOMBIA and we're heading to ECUADOR in a few days and we plan to do hitchhiking towards Quito. We hope that we can meet somewhere on this side of the world and travel and take videos together! Safe travels lads
The safari scène with the lepard, ow yeah had myself the same situation back in 2005 when we visited Tanzania Africa. We did some safari drives in the early morning and once the radio got Hot, all trucks and jeeps did the same unethical thing. And whith a video edit, sound or just a picture/photo, it does not tell the whole story. So thanks for showing how it realy goes. Anyhow thanks for this amzing episode as always, and C Ya in the next one 🙌🍻🍻🍻
I really really wish there will a DAY majority of Sri Lanka have a sensible "common sense" mindset like you guys have 💖💖hope that DAY will come before its too late and no wild life is left to be preserved 😊😊 THANK YOU for speaking up on "reality" 💯💯

Well there is a strict regulation for speed inside national parks. The speed should be 25kmph and of you exceed the fine is 25000 for a truck or 15day ban to enter the park. Some parks are very strict and they have cameras to monitor the speed. If you guys are still in srilanka visit Wilpattu National Park. You will see many leopards 🐆 and bears 🐻 and 10times less jeeps. Also Visit Minneriya or Wasgamuwa park where if you are lucky you will see more than 100 elephants together

Another beautiful episode. 8000 more for the silver play button. Fingers crossed. !!!! And again thank you guys for putting out the ugly aspect of these wild parks. As you guys correctly mentioned there are several wild life sanctuaries here in SL. Yala and Minneriya(Elephants) are the ones mostly plagued by the safari jeep menace. There had been one or two incidents where these magnificent creatures were hit on the park roads and killed. I think There are laws limiting number of jeeps that can enter park on a day currently. But the speed limit laws must be also looked at seriously and ways to implement them practically. Thanks guys!!!

What i like this vlog?! Is the true review
Very good video
will definitely download their app
It will be interesting to see how they deal with becoming social media celebs. I mean, we all want them to succeed but now they'll have a bigger budget. Maybe they'll just go upscale a bit and do a budgeteers episode on hoe to rent a cat in the Bahamas for $3k a pop.... etc. Go up and down the budget scale and still show people in each budget range how to get the most bang for their buck. But this video shows that they are ready to go to the next level based on the absolutely amazing video quality and editing shown here, plus the whole damn story backing it up. They just need to own their success and have Paddy out there in front talking about the actual costs of doing higher budget trips, lower budget trips, and everything in between.
Wow 🤩 🇱🇰🙏❤️
Yes you can't camp on top of ella rock since Ella is a tourist hub but there so many other amazing places that you can get the camping experience in Sri Lanka

I love the budgeteers...
Thanks for the video. My honest opinion on Yala and the overcrowding situation. Its a catch 22 when it comes to the overcrowding. Most national parks, from Maasai Mara in Kenya to Ranthambore in India all are open parks which allow quite a number of visitors to the parks to come and enjoy the beauty of its wildlife. Now yala is the most popular national park in Sri Lanka, for many reasons, and the chances of having sightings of wildlife especially leopards being number 1. So being open to the public, many local and foreign vistors flock to the park to get their chances in seeing these elusive animals. Now at a sighting in this video its actually much less than when its full peak season where its insane. The issue is this. All visitors who come want to catch a glimpse of a leopard, and the drivers are pressured to show them. Now the problem is sightings are rare and only one or two sightings happen per day. This means of course there is a large crowd wanting to see these beautiful cats. Thing is if visitors feel the experience itself is somewhat bad as there are so many jeeps in line to watch, then the only solution is to limit the number of jeeps entering the park per day and jack up the price to match the potential revenue the park will get per person to make it a high end exclusive experience. This of course is ideal for wildlife as well as to promote high end tourism. but this would mean thousands of visitors are going to be left out, plus thousands of people left unemployed due to hotels, jeep services and guest houses having to close down. The sad reality is these protected habitats now need to bring in some worth monetary wise to justify its protection. Hence its a catch 22 situation.
hahaha we had the same situation in Kruger Nationalpark. Leopard was in the bushes and nearly impossible to spot. Such a shame, would have loved to see them in action, such great animal. You lucky to spot one so well but yeah all the cars, it isnt a great feeling. We were also a bit disappointed with Kruger, and would probably always recommend a smaller less crowded park too. We will consider this on our next safari.

There are plenty of leopards in parks like Wilpattu and Kumana. I was so distressed when I visited Yala too, the way it's managed is completely wrong. Thank you for your honest review, it's so important to put it out there, because it puts the onus on the Wildlife Department and park management to change things for the better.

Yes, indeed. We hope the parks change their rules. It will make everything better. Less tourists but a better experience for animals and the park visitors 😊
I like Paddy’s take on the sighting of the leopards. It is what it is! It’s wildlife and people want to see it. The alternative to having busy sightings like you experienced is to triple the entry fees and reduce the amount of people they let in to a third. It’s 6 and two threes really. I think you might be overthinking it.
