What today's metal fails to understand is that you don't need to be downtuned to oblivion and have blast beats all over your songs to sound extreme. This is the epitome of violence in E standard.

@@thedjentleman1662 exactly my thoughts in the technical side of things. Problem with many contemporary bands is that they don't have vision, character, concept. That's why one can see copies and even worse, copies of marketing hypes. Heavy downtune can be a good thing used the right way (eg Immolation first album)

Those late 80s First wave demos all sound ten times more evil than today's downtuned crap, simple quick riffs on the E string might be the the most evil sound we can get ever.

Alex Z Good question. Maybe the band wanted it left off? I hate incomplete demos on CD/Vinyl. What’s the point??
