I'm Thai. I remember when I was a child, more than 40 years ago, I watched pictures of this movie. The hero and heroine acted very well. At the end of the story, I cried a lot. Plus, the song was beautiful. It's another Indian movie that still... in my heart❤

I personally feel kamal hassan is much more talented than any other contemporary actors. He is amazing actor.

See the way he keeps his legs in Climax at Railway Station Platform. As if he has really broken his Legs. That can be done by an actor who has passion, dedication on his work. Simply Outstanding . Wow Wow what an Great Mutli Talented Actor.

one of the few masterpieces which showed true innocent love of a mon towards a woman, it showed how a man with a pure heart can take care of a woman without any ill will , kamal ji and sridevi ji gave their lifetime performances which even they cannot repeat !

The last scene Kamal Ji was cramping with one leg still trying to get her attention. He tried to give her some clue for remembering him etc but she thought he was mad or asking for food and she gave him food. Those scene really break my heart. What a painful ending. What a acting from both legendary indian actor. Sri Devi Ji is/was/will be gem of India Kamal Hasan is master of acting.

इस फिल्म को जब हम देखें थे तब पांचवीं या छठी कक्षा में थे और यकीन मानिए बचपन से फिल्म के शौकीन हमने इस मुवी के बाद करीब छह महीने तक कोई फिल्म ही नहीं देखीं थीं। एकदम से सदमा लगा था। और जब भी इस मुवी के सीन देख लेती वही हाल होता था। लेकिन अबकी बार खुद के इमोशन पर कंट्रोल करके यह फिल्म देखी। फिर भी बहुत जगह रो ही दिए। श्री जी अभिनय को घोलकर पी गई थी। शायद फिर उनके जैसा कोई ना हो। पुत्री भी नहीं। कमल हासन तो इतने अच्छे हैं कि बताना शब्दों से परे है। सभी गीत अच्छे लगे। श्री को भूलना असंभव है। जय श्री राम जी। धन्यवाद यू ट्यूब को।

Just hear to the Title score by Ilayaraja. Never heard such a beautiful score in Hindi films before. Very gifted music composer of India

First time I had seen this movie in Doordarshan channel around 1991 in my early teenage stage and I was so much shocked at sad ending that, for two days I had felt a heavy heart kind of things. This is a remake of Tamil movie Moondram pirai with the same lead pair. And Kamal got the National award for the Best actor for the same .It was remade in Hindi after that. Sridevi has already done several movies in Tamil prior to Moondram pirai. Could have considered both for the award. Sad she missed it.

Excellent story, music, writing, screen play and acting. Dil se Salaam karta hu Kamal Hassan sahab, shri devi and entire team of Sadma.

acting is so real that it makes us cry so we should always appreaciate these movies some people are there who still think that old movies are the worst but this is real i just love her acting

North always serve as a gateway for the attackers to enter India especially for Islamic Attackers. So they always indulge in fights to stop them. The Attackers totally distorted the sanatani religion there. But they never able to put foot in southern parts. Because Mewari Rajputs, Sikhs and Marathas tighten their screws before reaching the south. That's why sanatani religious practices are more vibrant and proper in Southern part of India and South Indians know more about sanatan dharma in comparison with the people of North.

What beautiful emotions! How beautifully acted! A sad movie which can efface all the joy in your mind for a while and make you think deeply about the concept of pain and loss. True masterpiece

The part where he dances like a monkey to cheer her up, only a doting father or a selfless lover can do that for someone.

Heavy duty movie, it is like franco zeffirelli 's movie Romeo and Juliet 1968? Year? This movie tore me up, it was once on Netflix. I saw it here free, but no eng. Subtitles, it was worth it, but scenes cut out ..... what incredible acting!!! An ending no one could forget.did he break his foot in real life? The limp sure looked like the real thing+ his eyes looked beyond acting: REAL pain.

Kamal Hassan.....oh my god. He is par excellence. I think what he is doing , is more than acting..

I tried to resist writing my comment on this movie but I couldn't and finally.. My observation about the Character of Somu: 1) Somu was innocent by face but not from his mind.. Otherwise no one could drag him to the brothel. 2) After knowing about reshami's conditions Somu could reach the police and at least inform them. 3) In person, he could try to search for her parents.. But here also he didn't. 3) When he saw the police along with reshmi at the Vaidh's house.. He could face the situation but he didn't because he knew.. He did something wrong. Yes, the last scene was emotional but practically it was overdramatized. So sorry.. If someone feels, the comment is harsh. But it's practical. Advise : Never get inspiration of your intensity of love from such movie otherwise the last scene can be yours. Thanks for reading patiently. 😊

Masterpiece by Balu Mahendra. No actor could do what Kamal Hasan has done. Wonderful melody by Illyaraja a.nd nicely written songs bu Gulzar. My one of the favourite movies of all time.

This movie was always in my bucket list . The character played by both sridevi ji and kamal sir was outstanding both nailed it. I felt very bad for somu literally I was crying in the climax scene . I wish at the end somu and reshmi should meet together amazing movie

Last 7 minutes, peak performance by Kamal Haasan. Brilliant, heartbreaking n emotional 😢😢😢. People often speak rightly about Kamal sir, Sridevi, Ilaiyaraja music but the craze for Silk Smitha was undeniable
