Yeah, weapon grinding was already a bit slow. Now, they moved the goal posts. EDIT: Just thought of something. What they could've done is make a pole with the names of camo options; bronze, silver, gold, obsidian, emerald, ruby, etc., and asked us to rate on a scale of 1 to however many camos they would've made, and whatever that order was would be the camo progression to Gold. Example being Bronze at 100, Obsidian at 125, Silver at 150, Ruby at 175, Gold at 200. They could add more progression between levels of 25 if they wanted, so it could be every 10 levels instead.

It wouldn't be too bad if they could give weapon xp when you play the objective. Just 3K and increasing mastery to 100 is still bad. I can play occupy and score high, but I still don't get much xp with kills.

Just doesn’t make sense in a gameplay perspective. Maybe if the camo’s were worth it or different enough than other shooters, but it’s a simple color change with a finish on top. The least they could do is make it reactive or make it cool enough to be worth it but it’s simply not. Tbh I would love to see them make the marks a sort of mastery blueprint. Especially since you can’t put gold on another paint that YOU PAY FOR. It’s kinda insane to me.

Playing the objective should also give you EXP for your weapons.

Ubisoft won't allow the devs to add it, because it would make it too easy to unlock Mastery camos for all players. Gotta keep the grind to Bronze as long as possible so people buy skins from the store. Man I love modern gaming.

Why do people even care about the mastery camos when many skins already look better and completely change how the gun looks? The longer the game exists, the more skins release and the less and less relevant mastery becomes.

All this "moving the goalposts" has me very worried. I dont mind a grind but i had my M429 at lvl 73 and was looking forward to getting silver on it today. Only to log on and find out that i am now firther away from silver now than i was for gold 1 day ago in the blink of an eye... Im glad they have made it easier to get attachments, but the "moving of the goalposts" is something i just cant get behind. Opens the door for too much shenanigans down the line.

Same here. The extended mastery grind killed it for me… I wish they would have left it alone. It took long enough before. As it is now it will take 1050 hours at 1x XP to get gold in all weapons, which is insane… some of us touch grass and have other things to do

You aren’t supposed to get it immediately but GOD I can’t imagine playing this damn game for that long. I’ve spent maybe 10k hours on a total of 10 games but even then that was due to interests being peaked like glitches, friends and other things being added alongside me not having a job and being a kid. I get this is live-service but I can’t see myself grinding THAT much especially since it takes me a good minute and a half to get into a lobby atm.

I want more of those 'static' skins like the Neon Clean M60. I love running the M870, but the optimal attachment setup with the pistol grip just isn't visually appealing to me. Plus, I just love using matching gear like the aforementioned M60 when I play Cleaners or the Firestorm MDR and Green skins.

It sounds like a bad change, but the reason they're doing it is easy to understand. If you unlock camos too fast, the players will eventually run out of stuff to do in the game and will stop playing. With this players that care about camo will play the game more. It's sleazy, but it is what it is.

My main concern with this is something I'm fearing that could happen someday and basically the reason COD went downhill with MW19, and that is the publisher (as in Ubisoft) starting to force/take decisions on the game mechanics for the sake of profit, hope they don't get the idea ever of "EOMM is having COD make bunch of money, let's implement it too" in the future or the game will be doomed.

Literally the best thing they could’ve done was added XP to OBJ and fixed the ENTIRE problem with weapon XP. I’ll enjoy my time rn, really like being able to attachments faster but this was NOT the way as I would’ve loved to play OBJ more and make it a challenge to do better while playing the OBJ/unlocking things. Not to mention, where tf was this with Dedsec? Like actually, 700k XP is pretty gnarly and I assume it’ll be just as much if not more for RB6. But that’s a future problem.

Exactly that, there is nothing to earn. No character skin, no attachement variation, no title card or something that could be earned throught challenges or actions done. And no, the battle pass doesn't count, i'm done with battle pass, 90% of it is shit filler

I was level 90+ on several weapons and level 99 on my mp7. I was also level 45+ on every other weapon. I was waiting to get every weapon to 95+ then I was going to do a final windfall weekend stream for gold. I've put 8 days of playtime into this game already grinding and to log into it today only to see that I now have 250% more grinding to do and the guns that were only a couple levels away from Gold are now 100+ levels, was a total gut punch kick to teeth. I haven't felt this bad since I was 8 and my parents told me they were getting a divorce. Actually this feels even worse. Like finding out your wife, who you are madly in love with, is cheating on you. Seriously, I feel so sick to my stomach. This makes me so angry and betrayed at the same time. Plain as day, DO NOT EFF WITH MY TIME!

I'm just basically grinding the attachments first then maybe down the road i may have a mastery camo but with this level extension the devs can put some extra camos into them or maybe some extra stuff.

I am 100% for the mastery camos being super grindy to get since they are "mastery", but it is also why they need to add seasonal/monthly camo challenges for ALL weapons with some cool unique camos each season. Basically like the COD camo challenges on the way to mastery but just as a filler for the void of levelling to mastery and to incite a bit of variety in the grind...

Got on today, had my game bug out twice in a span of a half an hour where my game just stopped letting me doing anything other than walk. I couldn't shoot, mantle, melee, run or even use my gadget. I have not a single clue what happened because it wasn't like this before the update and I don't know if anyone else has this issue. My only way to work around it is leaving the match I am in to fix it.

Yeah not enough of a change in my opinion, I would have changed it to about 2300 XP per level which is about 1.5x faster than 3500. Also still not rewarding Objective play still for some reason. There should be an ability limit to 1 in general for everything. 1 of each ability imo so up to 2 players on a faction. We are gonna get a 6th faction in Season 1 so that's 12 different abilities. 6 Intel Suit is completely broken imo.

Funny you mentioned Jev with skin obsessions, his video about this topic also popped up for me as a FIRST(!) recommendation.

The change shocked me at first as I'm used to cods yearly camo grind, however taking a step back it makes perfect sense given what the games lifespan is supposed to be. I'd argue that I'd like to see more out of this game as many fps titles are absolutely worthless at providing things to do outside of the boring battle passes, lame daily challenges and so on. This is a step in the right direction, but I do think after this preseason they need to be outdoing cod with camos and overall direction of what to work towards. Loved getting all the operators so far but the game is still slightly lacking on identity overall aside from the unique idea of ubisoft factions. Feedback the community has given has been pretty solid and I'm hoping the feedback shifts to pushing these guys towards beating out cod and a lot of the other lackluster fps games that haven't seen innovation in a while. We deserve more than just another fps that takes your money how it can while remaining mediocre and is likely why cod and many titles have lost their footing. Keep the feedback coming folks and fingers crossed we end up with something that rivals or surpasses the previous amazing legacy titles that have grown friendships and kept a lot of us sane. You know what games I'm talking about 👍

Truth, I love ya, but you can't complain about filler camos, then complain about having 95 levels of no camos. Maybe we get some other incentives along the 95 level journey.

Played the game after the update and boy I noticed some issues. And the main thing that they focused on the update which was the "getting shot behind the wall", well I got shot behind the wall multiple times and that too from the very first game. As for the thing about the Weapon Level Req Increasing for the Mastery Camos, I haven't got any of them yet but if it's this much grindy then I might skip it totally. And the thing is, no one was complaining about the Mastery Camos Levels and people's main complain was about the Low XP Gain from matches so I don't understand why they changed that out of nowhere.

While I am a grinder in fps games, I wanted to rush especially in this game because the base guns look horrible. Stocks falling off the seems, grips with a fucking battery taped on it like a magnum. While my goal was gold, I wanted to bronze fast so I wouldn't have to look at the ugly. Maybe Ubi thinks this change will incentivize people to buy skins early?

I think what they went for, is that the first 50 levels are the attachment grind portion, then they now make you grind more for that first mastery level in bronze. kinda like that they extended the length, happy its not something any average joe will be up for.

What they should do so I know there's going to be 3 new mastery camos so they should move gold from 200 to 150 and the new mastery starts at 200 to 300 should they do this or not?

i personally hate it for one reason only. my mp7 was like 6 or 7 levels away from silver and now its over 70. i kinda always knew the complaining would lead to something like this and thats why i didnt mind or complain about the long grind to level 100. my biggest fear now is that the new mastery skins coming in s1 are gonna be level 500+

The only way search and destroy works for this game mode is if all faction abilities are turned off and everything is just for show. It doesn’t matter if one person is each faction or whatever, that’s still not going to do it.

Damn BT I'm truly sorry to hear that about your father. You have the morals and character that some people with 2 very loving parents can't achieve. My nephews father passed away last Thanksgiving.. Imagine in ranked dropping the tactical heal that stays on the ground and popping the ult. I play that class constantly and I believe the heal stacking for both of those need to be looked at...tanking shot gun blast is ridiculous when you have both of those heals going.

The only way this makes sense to me is if the extra mastery camos are there to fill in the gaps. As an above average player, it took me 2 weeks to get my AA-12 gold. You're telling me that dropping a 30-50 bomb, 60-70 on those noob lobbies, is going to take me about a month and a half for 1 singular weapon? I do think that the devs are not monsters, this is likely in preparation for season 1 and the new camos coming out soon. They want to keep Gold as the "golden" standard. However, with 0 context, this change is super baffling. I don't even know if I have the will to get back on. My D50 was at Lv88. I was only a few games away, now I'm a few weeks away from my progress.

My complaints come from the place of the grind was already long enough, not that I'm not getting the camo quick enough. I didn't want Gold to come quicker, I thought 3500 kills was pretty fair. Takes about the average player multiple weeks for a single weapon. Now it's moved up to 6000 for primary weapons. And, no, it's not good for my D50. I was basically done. Now I'm going to have to do an additional 50+ levels. In what world does 12 = 50+? In fact, I did the math. Before the patch I had 180 kills left. With 4XP, that's 45 kills, not counting assists. After patch I have 680, or 170 with 4XP. That's over 3.5 times more kills than I was originally supposed to do.

i think a really cool idea for an earlier camo to add for say level 70ish to balance out the now faroff grind for gold, could be like a pristine version of the gun, since all the guns default skins are beat up and abused. Similar to the Cold Steel skin for the D50. though i am sad that the guns i grinded to max already is now not max and ill just have to regrind them for max level again. edit: ok i just played like 10 games and it feels like it takes 20-30 kills to get a single weapon level still.. which is how it felt before.. so it just feels like camos got gate keeped even more then they already were.

I managed to get the gold ACR skin about a week ago and my ego was forcing me to gring the sniper cause there's no way I'm not getting a gold sniper in this game too....I know it's some basic bitch approach but i've always been the 'sniper' and the sniper needs a golden snipe lol. now that they made this change, I'm not gonna grind 70 more levels just for a bronze skin. this is way too excessive, they should have added 2 more skins (like platinum or something) instead of diluting the skin progression like this

I mean when it comes to camos I wouldn't mind being able to put like a arctic or desert camo on the guns maybe in the future a weapon prestige that gives like a brush covered skin or frostbite theme. I don't know, just something extra to grind for in the future, maybe, maybe not.

I was up real late last night too and BT was on my team in Domination. He popped off about 30+ kills. Didn’t notice until the end screen but gave him a shout out. Lovin the content BT. If they can have double xp for weapons go on for awhile longer, that should make everyone happy and yes somehow reward more xp for playing the objectives.

Gold camo on all guns was my entire goal and now I’ve lost motivation. I haven’t played this update at all

I’d love to get into xdefiant but with no search and destroy like game mode I can’t but once that comes in I’ll be playing it a lot for sure

i have like 80hrs logged in this game so far and i was really killing myself to unlock gold for all guns but im gonna relax and hope they revert these changes

I want a couple grindable camos besides gold, I really hate how the Eruption camo is so elusive for example. I like the red look more than gold or animated stuff

I got I camo since I started playing when the game was released. I couldn't give two craps. I'm having fun. I like to take breaks from these games because I don't wanna burn myself out on the game and I like to come back to a bunch cool updates. It feels like a new game. Sorry about your father.
