Thank you for knowing how hard it is for cats in shelters - and dogs suffer, too. But cats can really shut down when put into a cage and their fate unknown to them. You're doing what I did decades ago, before I had to continue doing off-site and clerical volunteering. You are The Best ❣❣❣❣❣❣ TY for caring, and giving 💞💕💗

As a past cat dad, that picture of him sad and lonely got to me. I'm not going to lie, I teared up. A man isn't worth a damn if he can't cry at the right time. I'm glad he found a home.

We always make sure we have a senior shelter cat, sure it's hard as they are not around for years, but it's worth it for them.

As having adopted some of he saddest kitties, we've ever seen and afterwards seeing them blossom up, i'm so glad that Tofer hopefully found his forever-home

I hate people who neglect and abandon pets (especially cats). Poor Fishtopher. But I’m glad he got a good forever home and a loving family.

Might not have been abandoned. I worked for a vet that worked with an animal rescue. They brought in a stray and like always advertised in case there was an owner looking. There was. He had been lost for almost a year. They were almost sure based on the picture. When he saw them and they saw him you could see how excited they all were. He actually started acting excited when he heard their voices. He was found miles away from their home.

A lot of senior cats end up in shelters because their owners pass away and their families don't want the cat, or the owner moves to a facility that doesn't allow pets. This lovely gentleman was clearly well loved at one time and seemed to be in mourning. So glad that he found a new family to share his love with.

Fishtopher is so adorable, so handsome. I would take him home in a heartbeat.. so glad he found his forever home 🧡

Senior cats often wants not more than love and cuddles, a spot in humans bed, good food, fresh water, more love. And they can be so loving and cuddly, they can melt a heart of stone. They`re really great buddies and family members.

I hope that he'll be very happy in his new home. He deserves to be loved ❤

I'll never forget the look of shy sadness my cat had when we opened the box after we brought her home from the shelter. Within 15 minutes of Yuri looking around the house she started purring loudly non stop all day long as she explored and rubbed against us. Best feeling in the world.

Thirty years ago my ex wife and I went to a shelter to adopt an older cat. When we got there we were told that they only had one which nobody else wanted. We saw the cat, a male tabby covered head to paw in dust, fleas and mites. I put my hand out and the poor thing dragged himself to me and licked my hand and I fell in love instantly. The shelter didn't want us to have him, but after much argument agreed. With a bit of fuss and attention and seversl bath's and fleas and mite removals 'Corky' became a much loved and affectionate addition to our home. Sadly he was injured in a motoring accident 3 years later, dying in my wife's lap on the way to the vet. We cried our eyes out. Londwinded way of ssying cat's love you back, given a chance ❤❤❤

Yes, i know the story about Grandpa Mason. An old feral cat who needed much help to survive, first a grumpy, hissy cat, swatting at humans. Then foster kittens melted his heart and he became a famous foster dad for kittens, teaching them how to cat. He warmed and groomed them really tenderly and he looked so happy doing this. Grandpa Mason reminded me of my Maxi, a big, nearly 20 years old male cat i was asked to foster for his last few weeks or months, the shelter staff loved him very much and had only one wish - that he could have a quiet life without all the other cats and other animals around him. He disliked them and felt bad at the shelter after 4 years there, he got a huge depression and had refused some meals. The shelter staff told me that he was very loving, but nobody wanted him. Too old, too ugly (he really looked a bit strange with his big, slightly crooked face, but never ugly), too big (9 kg Maine Coon mixbreed with short fur), too unhealthy (only a slight arthrosis, very healthy for his huge age). I agreed to foster him, i was in love with this poor boy at first sight. At home, he hid for a little more than 1 week in his cave, coming out only to eat and use his toilet. But then he came out and talked to me with a 3-tone meow. I sat down next to him, took his face between my hands, and there was hope in his eyes for the first time. From this day, he showed his very friendly character and love, changed to a snugglebug and lap-cat. He flourished and refused to die, he lived with me for 6 1/2 years. He surprised everyone! He was never mean to anyone, he loved me, he loved the shelter woman who found him and nursed him to health, he loved the vet. He looked like a gangster or bully cat, but was a big softie. He was like a living teddy bear. He behaved and talked like a purebreed Maine Coon cat, had the very fluffy tail of them and huge polydactyl paws. I loved him so much,and he knew only love. He was very special, like grandpa Mason.

(and more) There is something so incredibly dear about an old cat, i can't describe it; a sweet wisdom, perhaps, and a profound gratitude for an opportunity to love and be loved. My other favourite rescue video is about a horribly disfigured cat in Istanbul which a little girl begs her father to rescue; the before and after photos are striking. i am sure you have seen it i mention it just in case.... have you read any of archy and mehitabel by Don Marquis? still in print after a century, honored in gilt over the doorway of the Brooklyn Public Library, the literary cockroach, archy, and his feline friend mehitabel, an alley cat on her 9th life, have a great deal to say about the plight of the smaller creatures among us. (written with great humour, intelligence and wit) the entire text of "the lives and times of archy and mehitabel" is easy to find in book form; also, i recently downloaded it from the university of nebraska....that is only one compilation of his columns, though it's the most popular

@@harridan. Sweet wisdom, you hit the spot! Maxi had the wisdom of an old warrior with the wish to never fight again. He had many scratches on his face, most of them covered by his fur, signs from his life as a stray before he was rescued. The shelter woman who rescued him told me that she found him exhausted and bleeding. But she took him off the ground, put him is her car on a blanket for emergencies and drove back to the shelter. She was on her way home, but this cat was most important for her, he needed her help. Maxi had a necklace with his name and birthday, but no hint of an owner. Nobody knew him - or wanted to knew him. I made a video with the only photo of him left after a water damage: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nmaL1Y-jlczekaQ.html The little smile on his face came when i told him that he`ll get a bath and spa time now. He was dirty because he had stopped grooming himself and refused to get brushed. He loved his spa time, i needed to fill my baby bathtub 3 times with fresh water until he was clean. He loved it, he purred the whole time. Then i dried him with heated blankets, he continued his purring. I brushed him wet and dry, and he loved it. Cleaning his right ear with fuzz-free fabrics and pure bio coconut oil was easy, the left ear was a problem, you can see why... it was nearly destroyed. But i managed to clean it without hurting him. After this, i was done and sat down on my couch, Maxi came up, made himself comfortable on my lap, turned belly up and started cooing, grabbed one of my hands and guided it to his belly. And i knew from this day that he was a real sweetheart. He loved to fall asleep on my lap with my hand on his belly. He started sleeping in my bed after he was clean, and his quiet snoring helped me to fall asleep faster. The next days i learned that he has much wisdom, he knew the important things of life and i learned from him. I had a feral mom with 2 kittens as my first cats, cursed with cancer and going over the rainbow bridge far too early. But mom Maya was a very happy house cat the last few months of her life, she loved me for saving the life of one of her kittens. The little one was very weak and dehydrated. Maya had not enough milk for 2 kittens, cancer is a bitch. After them, a crazy, playful male cat with kitten energy adopted me. I always had some contact with the shelter staff, but with Tom hating all other cats they don`t asked me to take Maxi. After Tom died in his sleep after 11 months and i had enough time to get over it, they asked me to foster Maxi as i visited the shelter. Just wanted to say hello and ask for an unpaid job in the cat house... was brought home with Maxi, his cave and some blankets he loved. Yes, i`ve seen this video with the disfigured cat and the kind-hearted little girl. There was another bittersweet story about a starving old cat named Aslan. The story of archy and mehitabel could be funny, maybe i`ll get the book. But i`m slow reading english, i`m german and try my best. Now i`m preparing to move, i have a clammy apartment where the landlord refuses to do anything. But he tries to cheat me, and he had the audacity to sue me with some lies. But i have evidence to prove his cheating and a good lawyer. I`ll keep the book in mind and get it after moving. Just have to find an apartment, but as an early ritiree with not so much money this is a hard job.

So pretty and sweet cat with a wonderful human.

True animal lovers ( not pretenders), will always look around for pets that have been overlooked, or been there the longest. That was my last shelter adoption. Although most my kitties have been taken in from the streets, as I think they need me the most. So glad The beautiful kitty has found a loving home, I wish all of kitties in his situation, would!!

We adopted a cat from a shelter because she was so lonely. When I first held her, she wrapped her paws around my neck and licked my ear.

He reminds me of my cat Max. I got to the shelter on June 17th 2012 for another cat, when we didn’t click I asked for another cat which doesn’t was easy to find a home for. They let me meet 12 year old Max, it took him a few minutes to realize I was there to meet him and he started licking my fingers. He had gone through a lot in his life. Even so I took him home. When we got home he started eating right away and he spend the night sleeping against my tummy. Even so the first months where not always easy because of his past, but I never gave up on him and he realized more and more he was safe with me and I would never hurt him. I had to let him go on June 15th after almost 3 years, because he was to sick, he died on my lap around 5 pm. It’s going to be 9 years this year, but I still miss him. I’m glad I was able to give him a few beautiful years. He died knowing he was being loved like crazy. Adopting him was one of the best decisions I made in my life.
