Sad Reality of YouTubers in SOUTH EAST ASIA
In this video i will be talking about the secrets and sad reality of many KZreadrs coming to South East Asia to grow their KZread channels. Many of them, us included, were chasing short term growth making videos about eating street food, trying public transport, filming whatever was popuplar for views, but having a devastating impact on our KZread channels.

That was so interesting, thank you.
Thanks for sharing, Jay. We find it difficult and a struggle to grow our audience. We stay true to our content - we are a travel channel for the 35-75 year old - people wanting to travel the globe with true experiences. Still the channel grows slowly as some countries do better than others. I was not aware of the South East Asia phenomenon. I wish more people share such information, instead of hiding behind false images of success; for every creator wants to be successful and grow an audience, no one wants to feel like no one cares or no one is out there. Cheers!
Wow thanks for this insightful video
Thank you for a very honest review!

My pleasure!
Right on, Jay! Noticed this with US yts in Indonesia! As soon as they returned home & stopped filming, views dropped like hotcakes! I want to return to Indonesia & make a "love letter" to islands i've visited in the past & all the amazing people who extended their hospitality!
Thanks Jay! Valuable insight. Love your videos. Hopefully you keep making more!

ur absolutely correct bro
This is very true - lots of good points and I appreciate the honesty man. Great video. I've identified this stuff on my own channel - there's a "Lombok bounce" on basically any video I've filmed there. The viewership for me is not quite as skewed as you're highlighting, but it is certainly notable
Spittin facts
lovee!🥰
That was very useful and totally honest. Trank you so much for these insights. I can Imagine there will be many who are grateful for this kind of eye opening Information. All the best for both of you.

Thank you for a very honest video. Can totally agree, we been traveling and doing videos for almust 10 years and a lot of videos gives good views but almust no money due to the things you just took up, as well you get lots of dead subscribers as you mention. We been follow you guys since you were in Bali and you should make more videos in this kind of topic as it are very rellevant. Hope your channel get more audiance and you able to attract the right type of people to it. Very good video, keep them coming! Blessings from Sweden!

I find this very interesting Jay! You seem to know so much about KZread and its algorithms; so please share some more information about that with us. You are very knowledgeable about these things. I do believe there is an audience that wants to know more about these topics! So don't worry so much about views or subscribers. I love it that you are very vulnerable talking about these things. Many people are interested in the REAL human being behind the screen, and you show us that person. That's so much more worth than likes or subscribers!
Interesting honest video. But sad reality at the same time.

Interesting facts...I remember I subscribed to your channel while you were in Turkey and I was in Turkey too; it was helpful. Then kept following you in Indonesia because I was once there so it was interesting to see what you show in Indonesia. I usually unsubscribe when the channel or KZreadr becomes inactive or irrelevant to my life situation or my life interests.
Thanks for the dose of You Tube reality. Pity viewers are so superficial. Personally, I enjoy being with you both and simply following your journey… perhaps wishing I was your shadow. But fortunately I have traveled to most of SEAsia and enjoy the recaps. Take care and best wishes for success with your exclusive sleepware. 🍻 Johno

No worries!
Maybe you should get an RV in the USA or a sail boat in europe...that would be fun to watch ....J&A battling elephants sailing across the atlantic or chased by a bear in a Colorado campsite
Creators/Builders follow the market, the market will not follow the creators. Steve Jobs said it as well, he had built many extraordinary products before, but the market didnt want it. It was the biggest lesson he learned. He had to find out what the market wanted/needed first, then built the products. Another Example: Airbus A380 is an excellent aircraft in term of the technology, but no airlines want to buy it anymore due to various reasons. So the production has been stopped. What the creators/builders want, is not necessary what the market wants, vice versa.
It's true. I've been subscribed a USA youtuber channel who lived in Indonesia for 9 years with his family. They spoke Indonesian, went to many restaurants and tourist places for youtube contents, but then he realized that even they get thousands of views, they earned less because mostly their viewers are local people. They moved back to USA 4 years ago, he started showing about off grid living, now he has many subscribers from many countries around the world and earn much more. Mostly viewers from southeast asia (just like from other countries) are young people, they will only be interested in topics about their respective countries, most of them cannot be loyal to certain youtubers for long term because of their limited internet quota and they have many options to watch.

Apa nama KZread channelnya bang
Thanks for giving us the low down on what's really going on. Having lived in SE Asia for ten years, it's true that locals love to see white people trying their stuff.
A good method is to never count subscribers or views. Just post you.

@@jayandalina well that one was a two part series with the other filmed in Sumatra and that one mainly had viewers from USA and Europe. Years earlier I did several vids in Thailand and that had the same audience.
Please don't be sad guys. Next year, Start to plan filming dozens of contents as a huge preparation for months ahead, so contents are ready to be uploaded even months.

Thanks Andreas! Well noted!😉
Maybe it's fair, if you make youtube money in cheaper Indonesia you get less money to help you scrape by, if you're making youtube money in expensive USA you get more to help you scrape by. And if you're a young beautiful helpless youtuber lady you make more money wherever you are..it's just how the world works

Nothing of new realiaty that is he,s saying here, like ppl know abt this. And it,s > 10min video for someone raving senseless.
Our family in Jakarta asked why weren’t KZreadrs. 😂 We watch the Indonesian videos and few non-Indonesian videos unless the KZreadr is exceptional like Wiens . Indonesia is not a third-world country. They graduated a few years ago. We stop watching any KZreadr who obviously hasn’t done any research and doesn’t know the country and includes false information or just little to no information on where they’re at.
You spoke a lot without saying nothing. I don't think your strength lies in sit-down and talk videos. You ramble.

Hi Jay, I'm a westerner, I am interested in Bali as a tourist and also retiring/living and working there. Really enjoyed your channel with Alina because you both provided a glimpse of what it is like to live there and the realities of life. Yes your honesty does come through and has value thank you:) Yours was one of maybe 3 at the time, I watched regularly some are "bali Life me" "monkeys" "bobo" "Nick k" but i have watched many 20+ of the you tubers in Bali including about 5 of the local Balinese channels. What would be great is a channel that helps me "collectively people watching" which I don't think most you tubers get? i.e. as a Tourist - 3 experiences to enjoy in ubud and 3 different places to stay with discount offers (which are affiliate links) like we stayed at this villa and enjoyed this coffee shop and art studio here is a discount for the villa so you can do the same. Traveller - avoid lugging around big suitcases this all you need for stress free travel with affiliate links. Retire - places, visa agents, how to rent buy bike free cheatsheet with steps and links to make it happen easy. KZread - how to start a channel how we edit, camera we use makes sense but why every youtube has links to things unrelated to their video and expect sales is beyond me, the sponsor today is VPN, I use this camera or some other random thing that won't help me. I want a cheap flight, great hotel/villa, discount to attractions not all in one vid so it's not just a sales video (maybe a free cheat sheet) and all the same real interactions. If I am retiring best visa agent, bank transfer/ credit cards etc. I just feel most YT are disconnected with serving their audience in this regard? Sincerely hope this helps. and p.s. I don't see how them going to another country promoting the same VPN, unless they are a food channel is going to solve anything. and pps Hope your clothing business is doing well:)

Also a series of videos for new travellers families (Nusa Dua, Sanur), retires (Sanur, Singaraja), couples (Seminyak), hipsters (Canggu), young party goers (Kuta, gilli), Alternative crowd (Ubud), Surfers (Uluwatu, Ahmed), adventurers, something different etc and different experiences they can enjoy, I'm generalising but at least people will get an idea of what these areas have to offer and the type of people they attract, a young party goer probably isn't going to like Sanur or a retire a legion street hotel. I don't think I have seen any video do a break down of the areas like that.

what you mentioned is why the channels are becoming boring, they are all just copying each other nothing unique, sincere or genuine. That is what set you guys apart from those type of channels in the first instance.
