Sacramento's Little Saigon: How the Vietnamese community is preserving culture

In the years following the Fall of Saigon in 1975, Vietnam War refugees fled to the United States, many to California. In Sacramento, the Vietnamese community would build Little Saigon, which would be a cultural hub for diverse Asian food, events, and local businesses.

I grew up in Sacramento. I remember when Vietnamese refuges came there in the 70's. They are a vibrant, humble and wonderful hardworking people. I have always loved their sense of community. This was a wonderful piece.

I thought the same until the video said that it wasn't until 2010 that it was officially labeled that, by that time a Vietnamese/Filipino store had opened in my town so I didn't really need to go down to Sac to get a lot of the stuff I went down there for. That and a 99 market opened in Folsom.

@@z543 Well, talking about "wrong". When you said "Pho", everyone knows it's Vietnamese "beef" noodles soup, NOT "chicken" noodles soup! So? You're comparing of orange 🍊 and apple 🍎.

@@trungnguyen-hv4ji LOLLL you made yourself look like a fool. Pho does not have to be "only" beef. the chicken pho is called "phở gà". pho is just usually beef and more popular than chicken. and by looking at your display name, youre viet? so? isnt it basic knowledge to know your own ethnicity's food? 🤨🤔

Amazing food guys. Like I said many people dont eat pork due to health problems and religion. For examples India dont eat beef, pork but everybody loves chicken. Muslims, Jews and other health freaks stay away from pork products like bacon but everyday I see why pork is really BAD. Beef on other hand is good for you just depends how you prepare it.. overall I eat everything except pork due to Pigs Hygiene, Bad Bad for health like heart etc. I would not eat beef either but its hard.. ignoring pork is just good enough for me. I eat chicken, beef and sea food.

something wrong with your brain? what exactly is a countries culture if it’s mixed with others if you compare a 1st world country to a 3rd world country most likely the 1st world doesn’t have a cultural identity because they mixed
