My Uncle was a prisoner there from 1940 to the end of the war! Survived and returned to Norway!

Been here…….. So, so saddened. As a former UK serviceman, found it difficult to comprehend the absolute horror of this place, from the remnants of the ovens to the firing (squad pit) . Truly shocking…. My sincerest thanks to the German people who were so helpful and kind, throughout my visit. Danke.

I've been there. I saw for myself the whipping table, the electric fences, the so-called medical centre used for 'experiments', the wooden posts where people were strung up or shot. Horrible, but informative. Let us never forget. My thoughts and prayers go to the victims.

And let us NOT FORGET that the SOVIET UNION CONTINUED to use the camp to house their own political prisoners at Sachsenhausen from 1945-50.
