========= The Red Baron LYRICS ==========
Man and machine and nothing there in between
A flying circus and a man from Prussia
The sky and a plane, this man commands his domain
The western front and all the way to Russia
Death from above, you’re under fire
Stained red as blood, he’s roaming higher
Born a soldier from the horseback to the skies
That’s where the legend will arise
And he’s flying
Higher, the king of the sky
He’s flying too fast and he’s flying too high
Higher, an eye for an eye
The legend will never die
First to the scene he is a lethal machine
It’s bloody April and the tide is turning
Fire at will it is the thrill of the kill
Four in a day shot down with engines burning
Embrace the fame, red squadron leader
Call out his name Rote Kampfflieger
In the game to win, a gambler rolls the dice
80 allies paid the price
Higher!
Higher, the king of the sky
He’s flying too fast and he’s flying too high
He’s flying higher, an eye for an eye
The legend will never die
Higher!
Born a soldier, from the horseback to the skies
And the legend never dies
And he’s flying
And he’s flying
And he’s flying
========= Historic Fact ==========
A great symbol of WWI, Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen, known the world over as the ‘Red Baron’, was a fighter pilot for the German Air Service. Considered the deadliest flying ace, he had 80 confirmed allied kills to his name. He was known as the ‘Red Baron’ because of his distinctive red plane.

If I remember correctly, WW1 quite a few pilots were quite the gentlemen. Many of them being from the more elite families of Europe, because of this they actually knew each other. So, when they were required to fight each other, the intent would be to disable the plane rather than the pilot, giving them a chance to land and live another day.

I didn't knew about who buried him. I knew he was respected by the foes. But that much respect... Wow. Imagine, you're fighting in war and have that deep respect for your enemy. It's hard to believe in that strong and huge humanity... Preggo me shed a tear 🙄 there are so many story's in war that just show love, appreciation and humanity. In those Situations! I can't even imagine being in war, but less i could imagine to celebrate Christmas or having such a funeral for my enemies. It's amazing. Maybe this part is even more amazing then von Richthofen's skills... Just an impressive story. Thank you for this video and the education

I mean even though a big part of war is to demonize the opponent. Humanity does overrule the regular doctrine every now and then. The respect shown here, the Christmas truce, the story behind no bullets fly. Soldiers are after all just humans paying with their lives for the failures of their leaders. They aren't inherently evil, no matter what the victor puts in the books of history or the current leaders tell us.
