Oppenheimer if it was good:

It feels like half way through the song it goes from being about the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, to about the Nuclear Arms Race. "Warned but did not heed" could just as easily apply to the warnings that building the bomb would lead to nuclear proliferation and an arms race as it did to the calls for surrender to Japan. "Extermination," "Strike Back," and "Prepare for Nuclear Attack" could all refer to the fear of WW3, the doctrine of Mutually Assured Destruction, and nuclear Armageddon.

Even after Nagasaki, there were groups whose resolve was hardened by this. In the day Japan surrendered, a section of the Imperial Japanese Army revolted and tried to destroy the recording of the Emperor’s surrender message before it could be played. Fortunately, they failed.
