Lyrics
In the skies above the isle
Aces In Exile prevail!
From near and far they arrived join the force
Ready to serve the Allied command
Sent in the training, though they already earned their wings
They were ready to fly they were fit for the fight
Once in the air the battle began
They had proven their worth now they fight for revenge
Fighter pilots in exile fly for foreign land
Let the story be heard tell of 303
Fighter pilots of Poland in the battle of Britain
Guarding the skies of the isle
Even at night shadows cover the ground
Fighting goes on from dusk till dawn
We fall on the Reich with the claws of the eagle!
They were Ready to fight, they were ready to die
Up in the air, the battle goes on
They had proven their worth now they have their revenge
Fighter pilots in exile fly for foreign land
Tell the story again to the 310
Men of Czechoslovakia in the battle of Britain
Guarding the skies of the isle
Over the battlefield brave man long way from home
You are the chosen ones sent to the sky to die
Over the battlefield brave man long way from home
You are the chosen ones sent to the sky to die
Oh fly - it echoes in history
Turning the tides in the heavens above
Fighter pilots in exile fly for foreign land
When the battle’s been won tell of 401
Fighter pilots of Canada in the battle of Britain
Guarding the skies of the isle
On wings of history they turn from home
To live eternally sky bound they roam
In all of history, never before
Was more owed to so few
Fighter pilot in exile!

Today, February 25, 2023, General Emil Boček celebrated his 100th birthday. He is the last living pilot from Czechoslovakia who fought in the ranks of the RAF. He briefly fought in France. After arriving in England in 1940, he served as an RAF mechanic with the 312th Czechoslovak Fighter Squadron (No 312 Squadron RAF). Subsequently, he underwent fighter training (Canada). From 1944 he served as a pilot with the 310th Czechoslovak fighter squadron (No 310 Squadron RAF). He completed 26 combat flights. I'm lucky that he lives a short distance from where I live.

The "mutiny" scene in The Battle of Britain movie really did happen although it was more likely one and then the rest following. Adolph Galland said in his memoir that when they heard Slavic chatter on the radio that they knew that they were in for a hard fight. The "foreign" aka Slavic units in the RAF did have bad radio discipline but it came to be an advantage with setting German flight crews off of their game.

@@fraydeyy yes they didn't have anything because of the battle of france, invasion of poland and espacially the battle of dunkirk. in july 1940 the lutwaffe had lost 50% of her air strenght compared to the strenght they had in 1939, and by september 1940 british were making more planes than germans and were shooting down more than germans did to them. I think it’s hilarious that in so many documentaries and stuff about the battle of Britain they always seem to make it sound like it was only the British that did it. And while this song obviously does bring up the contributions of the Polish, Czechoslovakian and such. They unfortunately don’t have the ability to list staff obviously everyone. Joachim himself I believe even stated in an interview once “Pilots from Poland, New Zealand, Canada, Czechoslovakia, Belgium, Australia, South Africa, France, Ireland, United States of America, Southern Rhodesia, Jamaica, Barbados, Newfoundland and Northern Rhodesia fought alongside British Pilots to defend Britain against the Luftwaffe.l

"bent, but not broken", respect to the airmen of Czechoslovakia, Poland, Benelux and France who chose to flee in order to fight another day & when they fought again they did so with dedication, the post-war governments of Czechoslovakia and Poland may not have welcomed them back with the open arms and respect they deserved, but the posterity remembers them and their sacrifice, today with the war in Ukraine raging when some of European countries hesitate to give their all to support Ukraine against a f***ist Russian regime Poland, Czechia and Slovakia are putting much of the rest of EU to shame.

The last official order in Poland was "TO BRITAIN". The long walk to Palestine was on. Others would make it also. At Falaise the enemy were unhappy that a Polish Division was there with a Canadian Division next to them. At Monte Cassino the enemy was unhappy a Polish Corps, with a Canadian Corps next to them were there.

I could never imagine what they were going through. Nazi Germany invaded your country and you lost almost everything. You lost so many friends and family trying to defend your country. Once in Britain your faces with the decision of fighting for revenge or letting more the people end up like you. The dedication of these men is unimaginable and they have my respect. They fought for their homeland no matter the cost. 🫡

In my opinion, nothing, because Poland's strategy was wrong. They made the same mistake as Stalin (in 41) and Hitler 44-45. And the key fact is that the Luftwaffe was not yet fully equipped either. Lots of 109D, some 110. An interesting fact is that the 110 scored more over Poland than the 109. By the way, I also wondered what would have happened if CZ had been equipped with an Avia 35 or 135.
