Sadly not everyone appreciates history. Too many are content to pretend it never happened. This is why Sabaton is so amazing. They do their best to make history interesting to those who would otherwise not have a chance to learn about it.

CidGuerreiro1234 I'm not, I like Manowar. What I was saying was between the two of them Manowar is closer to glorifying war. Sabaton sings more about the regret of war, and valor in specific battles, where as Manowar is more generalized and pro-battle.

Sabaton during The Last Stand shows tremendous respect to the Swiss Guard and the faith they died for. Sabaton during A Lifetime of War calls out the horror of religion and how men use it to justify their greed and unspeakable horror. Not many people can be so fair and respect history like you guys do. You write and perform your songs in ways that can make you connect to both the history while also respecting the people who lived it. You are truly amazing, while I'm still new to you guys, the more of your work I discover the more amazed I become.

They are patriotic and shows love for their country but they are not glorifying war. The lyrics in the swedish version is much more personal and about an unknown soldier who goes out to war. The mist settled on Charles Bridge. The young Prague militiaman clutched at a wound on his flank. He saw a movement. A Swedish soldier with a bayonet. The young militiaman lay stock still, and suddenly, he twitched. The Swedish man noticed him. The Swedish man walked over. The young militiaman awaited, anticipated, expected that bayonet thrust, but the Swedish soldier put aside the bayonet. "I spare you..." he whispered in broken Czech, then broke down in tears. As the mist settled, the Bohemian and the Swede sat side by side. Both thought about war. The crying Swede looked up. "Who let this happen..." they both said.

Mike Rex Ah you again, let's wreck your argument shall we :) 1: The EU is the most powerful economic block in the world, beating both the US by a small margin and China by a huge margin. 2: Racism is very very minimal in the western world, especially compared to the rest of the world, people of every ethnicity can live there, practice their religion there, work there and so forth, not a lot of nations allow this especially not on large scale. The dislike some Immigrants get is primarily due to their own actionsand that aside a nation has the right to regulate their Immigration which has nothing to do with Racism. If you want Racism try to be a Muslim in India :) 3: China is indeed becoming very powerful, but that has a lot to do due to western consumers, if they were to lose the US and Europe as trading partners their economy would take a massive impact causing it to crash, that is the downside of a production economy. 4: The Indian government might try to do something about it, but so far it is a mess of rape and violence, while in Europe the chances of getting raped are extremely slim so is the amount of violence in the same respect. 5: Obviously you are incapable to keep up with the news, Europe has dug itself out of the recent economic depression besides the fact, Europa's golden age will soon come again as Nationalism is rising, so yeah have fun with that. 6: On your accounts of Racism, in case you mean the Cop violence in the USA, statistics have shown that Black people in the US make up around 12 to 17% of the population yet commit 45% of the violent crimes{Murder, armed robbery, gang violence and so forth.} Whites make up around 70% of the population and commit about an equal amount of violent crimes. Yet statistics also show that for the 1000 black people died by Cop violence 2000 white people were killed by cops and added to that a white person is atleast 30 times more likely to be robbed or killed by a black person in the USA then the other way around, should I interpret that as Racism against whites? In Europe we got the same disproportionate crime numbers when it pertains to primarily Middle eastern and Eastern and Northern African people, added to a dose of Religious extremism from the same group, for that reason right wing parties are growing, is that strange as well? If you truly think Europe and the USA are so bad, here is a tip. Don't go there and keep to your own business. I mean it seems tons of your countrymen disagree with your statements as they come here to seek a better life. xD

@@pg1448 Here in South America we had something similar. The Paraguayan war of 1864. (Also known as the War of the Triple Alliance) It was the bloodiest war in the region since the independence wars. It faced the Triple Alliance (Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay) vs Paraguay, long story short, Paraguay had to appeal to use civilians and children as local militia, cause they have already lost almost all of his soldiers. Estimated after war reports said that Paraguay had lost at least 300K Soldiers and an unknown amount of civilians, leaving an estimated of 60% of total male population killed. As a result it leaved a woman/man ratio of 4 to 1. ( or even as high as 20 to 1, in the most devastated areas) And all of that thanks to territorial disputes.

@@pg1448 That was 296 years before WW1. Germany had a lot more people in 1914 than Germany did in 1618. ww1 was actually a lot worse than the 30 years' war in my opinion because the treaty of Versailles basically the end of WW1 set the course for WW2 to begin. and WW2 alone had more German deaths than almost all of the casualties of the 30-year war combined. all three of these wars were terrible but the worse one to participate in, in my opinion is WW1. the trench system was disgusting, cramped and was constantly bombarded by artillery.

  • @pg1448

@@shrimpbayless3965 Well I think the proportion of deaths relative to population numbers is more indicative of how "bad" it must have been to live through a war rather than absolute numbers. Because of course WW1 and WW2 had a lot more deaths simply because the population size was much bigger. Nevertheless the mortality rate pales in comparison to the thirty years war meaning the average person was way more likely to survive the world wars than the thirty years war. The soldiers in the trenches of WW1 are an exception though, I grant you that, the conditions were awful and the life expectancy of a soldier very short

Those DLC arent small details or more content. Basic version of game is basically early access or beta while DLC are just patched that balance things or fix mechanics. Small ones are not for poeple like you who want small details. Small ones and big ones are there to milk money from loosers. They just made DLC trap like Payday 2.

With a few changes, this song would be perfect for the Syrian Civil War: Two ways to view the world, So similar at times. Two ways to rule the world, To justify their crimes. By kings and queens young men are sent to die in war. Their propaganda speak, those words been heard before. Two ways to view the world brought Syria down in flames. Two ways to rule... Has man gone insane? A few will remain. Who'll find a way To live one more day? Through years of war, It spreads like disease, There's no sign of peace. Religion and greed cause millions to bleed. Seven years of war. From dawn to dawn they're fighting die where they stand. The fog of war lies thick when armies scorch the land. When all of Syria is burning what can be done. They've been to war a decade two more to come. Long way from home. (Döpas och dö i strid) Lifetime at war... Has man gone insane? A few will remain. Who'll find a way To live one more day? Through years of war, It spreads like disease, There's no sign of peace. Religion and greed cause millions to bleed. Seven years of war. When they face death they're all alike. No right or wrong, Rich or poor, No matter who they served before, Good or bad, They're all the same, Rest side by side now. Has man gone insane? A few will remain. Who'll find a way To live one more day? Through years of war, It spreads like disease, There's no sign of peace. Religion and greed cause millions to bleed. Seven years of war. Has man gone insane? A few will remain. Who'll find a way To live one more day? Through years of war, It spreads like disease, There's no sign of peace. Religion and greed cause millions to bleed. Seven years of war.

It's the same stuff. In essence, the Syrian war is about rebellious shia vs radical sunnis, but on the surface in a more tangible way there's party politics and geopolitics dictating the tides of the war. It's really similar to the 30 year war, superficially Catholics vs Protestants but in actuality about geopolitics and greed.

The great thing about the song, is that the English describes the causes and conduct of the Thirty Years' War. While the Swedish version of the song tells the story of a common Swedish soldier fighting in the Thirty Years' War. Both versions are fantastic!

True.... But the sad part about war is that millions have died because of people with money and titles... Even worse is that we still allow it to happen. Like if Trump sends you to Iran you have to go to not spend time in jail and get you're life ruined

Si vis pacem, para bellum still remains the primary reason for all countries to have armed forces. You could say soldiers have succeeded in their mission perfectly when a war doesn't happen at all. Or like Sun Tzu said, the apex of the art of war is to defeat your enemy without a single battle.
