Saab - Rear Camber Fix (9-5)

How to add four wheel adjustability to a Saab 9-5 in order to help address negative rear camber "sag". Applies to models without Auto Leveling Headlights and should be considered along with replacing any worn bushings.

While the video suffers from one-handed operation, the narration is excellent, describing every step, no hemming and hawing, no irritatingly regional accent interfering with the presentation of the info. Thank you from a fellow 9-5 combi owner.

jd rancho You are too kind, I agree the one handed cellphone filming isnt ideal but for this video it was the only way to film what I was doing to benefit other 9-5 owners. Thank you for your feedback!

What a great solution! I guess to get Saturn parts in Europe is going to be difficult, but anyway, you gave me some inspiration. Thank you!!

You're most welcome! I can't take credit for the idea but its very easy to do, the parts are pretty common here in the States and aren't necessarily specific to Saturn. See if you can find a generic part in Europe with the same specs or similar part number and it should work, maybe Opel?

You can buy them on Ebay, I did. But beware that if you have a car with xenon lights you need to find a solution for the bracket sensor of the leveling system. The holes in the original arm are right where the adjuster of the new arm is. Not impossible, but a bit of a challenge.

I did this to my '05 Aero wagon, except mine has auto leveling. I wasn't sure what to do with it, so I just aimed the headlight where I want it and left it hanging, seems to stay in place, thankfully.

Hi, It would be better to put the inner bolts back the same way that you took them off. This will prevent the end of the bolt from puncturing the gas tank in a collision. Saab has a caution on this in the service manual Otherwise, thanks for the video.

Or grind off the pointed tip of the bolt. I guess the tip is only pointed to get the bolt guided easier into the hole.

When secure 4 bolts on cross stay, am I suppose to torque it under load? Slightly jack up the wheel up 1/2 in. Suspension parts should torqued under load.

Rather the factory solution. Everything on the new rod is left to a little welding...

Brody George Theres no bracket on the Saturn parts for Saabs leveling arm / sensor that keeps the headlights level. Although, I personally know a guy who rigged the sensor to these adjustable arms if you wanna see pictures or an idea of how to do it.
