we don't operate enough jets for it to make sense to develop one. What we could do is team up with a EU nation and develop the next gen fighter like we did with the F35.

Yes, but now the government have decided to buy F-35 instead of co-develop next gen fighter Gripen E, together with Sweden, Brazil and all the companies involved in the project. The best thing is that it's already operable. The next fighter have been under development for a while and are planned to fly 2030. But tied to USA, F-35 and nothing to say about it, no canadian fighter will ever appear. Sorry.

@@boratb258 That is in fact not a bad idea. We the Europeans really like you Canadians a lot. You feel much more like Europeans than Americans.

Canada should buy all military planes from Sweden......but even only a few Golden Eye would be nice.
