The swedish make some good equipment. The truck mounted built in command and control module containing the radar and NASAMS equipment or equivalent could be doubled or tripled in length giving the equipment and operators more room by using a slightly longer truck chassis. The truck mounted Giraffe 4A radar is an extremely capable S band Gan Aesa radar with a 250+ KM range and also has a two speed rotational capability. SAAB also offer a Naval version of the 4A with four fixed panels on a four faced mast. Plenty of generator fuel is available with any lead acid batteries changed out for lithium-ion for efficiency. A great radar for medium to long range missile defence systems. The truck mounted Giraffe 4A and control centre would be a great match for a NASAMS 3 launcher on it's own transport truck for a two truck system. The option to network other launchers into the system would be available when needed. The capability to fire the latest ESSM along with the latest AMRAAM and the latest AIM-9X would be beneficial. A very capable no risk state of the art missile defence system. Clearly the Bendigo built vehicles and the homegrown CEA radar were prioritised with a huge cost involved and many capability compromises. I would also imagine the overall cost of the Australian version of NASAMS is excessive when compared to the standard version and the version I have designed using the truck mounted Giraffe 4A as I have described above. 😎🇦🇺Bendigo 👎👎👎
It can detect stealth aircrafts which is good. :-)

Yep! Stealth is becoming very cliché, it uses the latest GaN technology (they didn't mention that) and the first Nation to field it on a production ground radar, already one Gulf State customer.

Any radar can detect stealth aircraft. They always have been able to. The question is at what range? Chances are it's not far enough to protect you from newer generation stealth aircraft. If the stealth aircraft already has weapons on the way to your radar by the time you detect it, that's a bit too late.

Most stealth aircrafts are designed to counter X-Band Radars. The problem of stealth starts if the radars work in S-Band & L-Band. :-) The reason for stealth aircrafts to be detected is the wavelength of the radar. Radar of S-Band & L-band produces wavelengths of size relative to the aircrafts & results in scattering of resonance region rather than the optical region. :-> Therefore, most of the stealth aircrafts will be "seen" due to RCS enlargement. :-]
This is awesome!!!!!
Saab makes good stuff.

No European ( Sweden )
lovely system
Malaysia needs half a dozen of this to cover all its airspace, especially in east malaysia where things are getting a bit too hot for comfort
amazing =D
Can you upload some more content about the new passiv radars? A system that obliterates any Stealth abilities is gonna change everything.
Must be the most expensive
Giraffe was present on the Indo Pak border and still Indian Airforce carried out pre-emptive air strike. Any explaination for that

This Giraffe version has never been sold to Pakistan. They use older versions of the Giraffe.
