Saab 9-3 Dashboard Speaker Upgrade - Remove, Swap, Replace

Фильм және анимация

Quick video to show how to replace your Saab dashboard speakers to add some more definition to your sound.
*Note that I read the polarity diagram backwards. This will have no effect on speaker performance as both speakers were wired with the same polarity, but I recommend you follow the correct polarity*
Remember these are too small to give any decent bass, that is what your door speakers are for

You can make a short adapter cable with a female and male contact if you don’t want to cut the off the original connector. That’s what I did. Then it’s easy to get back to stock if you want to.

I did this last week, and did it the hard way by cutting off the connector from the pioneer speaker and soldering it to the new speaker so i could connect it directly into the existing plug in the dash. It works but so much more work than what you've done. Wish you had done this video last week.

Strange coincidence. I also replaced mine last week and moved the speaker plug from the stock speakers to the new ones. However, I picked coaxial speakers that have a tweeter sticking up and they interfere with the grills. So take care to choose some like this video that are more flush with the top.

Thumbs up on the camera angles. I would have liked your option on the sound from the speakers. What I did notice is it looks like the new speaker is higher than the original and causes the speaker cover to not fit flush.

Very nice and clear video's you have. They give a good insight, thnx for that. I have a question as I am thinking about replacing all speakers in my 2008 9-3 convertible. For dashboard you used the Alpine SXE-0825S. How is your experience so far? Do you like them? As I would like to use one brand for all speakers could the Alpine SXE-1325S be used in the back of the car and the SXE1725S in the door panels? What do you think?

@@monstermask3212011 you will never get bass from the dash speakers, they are insufficient in size to reproduce lower frequencies. They are for the highs and mids. @@abdomination actually that's not true, at least for the 2003-2006. The center speaker is the only speaker that the chimes do not come from on the factory system, it's driven from AMP1. When installing a fully aftermarket sound system and bypassing the factory amps, you have to connect the centre speaker to one of the other factory speaker outputs to retain the chimes. I found this out in my other video where I replaced the factory head unit and factory amps
