For those who want an update, the good news is that the Supreme Court ruled 5-3 in favor of Whole Women's Health saying H.B. 2 put restrictions on abortion that created an undue burden. The bad news is everything else since 2016.

John Oliver and George Carlin are the only 2 celebrities i truly have no criticisms and high praise of and Im against celebrity worship in all forms. But when youre right, youre right. And these two have always been right

Good timing for this upload 🙂 ( I remember being outraged when they wouldn’t let President Obama appoint a justice. I think people didn’t fight hard enough then because the Democratic Party just said “well ok, we’ll just place the effort into winning in 2016” The Supreme Court has long been a target to destabilize our democracy because it doesn’t actually have enough checks on its power in place. I hope the irony is not lost on all the legal scholars out there , that the legal system itself is the instrument which can bring an end to the rule of law, when the legal system itself has become corrupted.

I studied International & EU law, it will forever stick with me how one of our lecturors - a former Dutch minister of justice no less - asked if we felt we, in the Netherlands, lived in a stable country and a free and fair society. Most of us of course felt yes, we do. Only to stress, to emphasize that no, we really don't and no country ever truly is. That there is no such things as guaranteed laws or inalienable rights. That such rights and laws are to be defended at all times and are under attack at all times, in ways both subtle and gross.

him and george carlin are the only 2 social commentators that I cant find any flaws in any of their logic. Even Jon Stewart sometimes Im not really on board with his take. The media really got exposed in the last week as not knowing a god damn thing about what theyre talking about, and that theyre more interested in being news meteorologists (forecasting the future) instead of reporting the present and putting it in context with the past and humbly commenting on what it could possibly mean for the future. Ironically , thats what John Olivers comedy show and George Carlins stand up did.

23:11 the woman’s “oh my god” is all of us

Pro-lifers really are something. I went to a Catholic High School. We were Catholic even though we were Liberal (after high school, we no longer were Catholic. They drove us away from religion because of how terrible they were as people). Anyways, my Junior year religion class was Catechism Study. Near the end, the students were to give presentations on the church's teaching for various subjects. One of which was of course abortion. The presentation had to be long enough to fill 2 classes. The Church's teaching on abortion hardly requires 10 minutes filling around 100 minutes was a very long stretch so to fill the rest of the time, the presentation were detailed descriptions of the various methods of abortion that can be done. I went home crying that day. My mom was pissed and totally went off on the principal and teacher so the next day I was allowed to leave and not sit through the rest of the presentation. Still firmly pro-choice today. All that experience did was make me disgusted by the methods pro-lifers use to try to get their way. Believe what you want but don't force anybody else to follow your beliefs. And that organized religions are mostly made of up hypocrites that don't practice what they preach. Don't hate, don't cheat, don't bend the rules just to get your way. If you can't play fair then maybe you shouldn't be playing at all.

I was raised Catholic went to catholic school and all that crap. By the time I graduated at 18 I was out of that religion. I am not catholic or any other religion. I'm not agnostic or atheist. It's not right that that religion traumatized you like that. Hope your ok now.
