Bought the Soare 500 from Digitaka. They have the lowest prices and the shipping is extremely fast and free, like you said. I sent it to the US and a friend of mine brought it to me to South America. It came with an issue, there is a friction. I wrote to Hanna Digitaka just to let her know, and clarified her that I was not sending the reel back. Never got an answer neither an explanation. I can live with the friction, but not getting an answer is the reason why I will never buy from Digitaka again. Which is a shame because maybe it was only bad luck. Great review! Didn´t have the opportunity to test it yet.

mate, you gotta try out the Daiwa Caldia 2018, it's got 5kg drag ( same lvl with Stragic ci4), I got a 2000 size, go for the 1000 mate. great review cheers and merry christmas.

Do you still use a leader line for the set up?

I've got a Shakespeare Sigma Series 2200 025 from the early 1980's and love it! It's got a 4.4 to 1 gear ratio and I paired it to a Shakespeare Sigma SP 2260-2L ultralight fishing rod! It's the 17 Soare Ci4+ 500 S. The BB 500 S is the new and cheaper 2018 model.

Yes, that's it. 17 is the year when they came out, Shimano has a new 18 soare but it's not with ci4+ material, less refined, it's called 18 soare BB

I use 5# Power Pro and a blood knot to connect my braid to 6# fluoro leader.

Yes the S stands for shallow spool. I have it spooled with approximately 85 - 90 yards of 5# power pro. It’s more than enough when fishing from my kayak. Never been close to being spooled. But I’m still trying to find a fish that can do it. Hopefully I’ll run into a jack this summer.

Kinda takes the fun out of it of you have like 12 lb of drag using like 20 lb braid not much will even take drag from that.

My Sahara 500 is 3 years old and still bringing in big saltwater fish without any mods. I can only hope that this Soare 500 will perform the same way. Nearly 5 months of brute pulling reds and keeping my fingers crossed.

It’s still bringing in the big ones. No issues and no major cleaning for it. Granted I’ve never dunked it in the water so it’s still beating strong. The drag is still buttery smooth.
