I had a deposit on a T7 and still may own one someday but when I was adding everything up I was going to be into it for at least $14k by the time I set it up the way I wanted and it was still going to be a 450 lb bike. I ride solo mostly and that weight could get me into trouble. The 300L Rally meets my needs and is the right bike for me at this time. When used T7's start showing up down the road though, who knows...

For me, I am a one bike garage and enjoy solo rides. I rode the TAT and some BDR's on a WR250R and thought the T7 would be a natural progression. After some thought and I only ride pavement to get to dirt, I chose a 701. I did the MABDR on the 701 and it was a lot of fun, and I definitely appreciated the power with all the pavement on that route. I am planning a month-long summer ride out west so that will be the real test. So why am I posting on a 300L video lol, I am still attracted to the simplicity of a Honda or Yamaha 250/300 bike...

Understand your situation completely. I bought a Tiger 900 in early 2020 which is an excellent bike overall but so heavy in the woods. I bought a Rally in May 2021 and immediately realized that it was the perfect allrounder if you prefer lightweight over amenities. In August I bought a 300L so my son can ride with me on a similar ride. We have 2000 plus miles on each and the Tiger has under 1K. It will probably be traded later this year once I figure out what I want to compliment the Hondas. By the way we are just down the road from you in Sanford, we ride in Ocala 2-3 times per month as it's only a 40 minute ride from the house. I have taken the Rally on a trip to the mountains with some friends (trailered the 4 bikes up). One T7 and 2 Africa Twins plus my Rally, 200 miles per day of mixed forest trails and twisty pavement and the Rally really shined.

Damn I really like the idea of the rally, the only reason I did not buy one was because Honda decided not to import them to South Africa. I ended up buying the Zontes 310 adventure and it handles 75 miles per hour (we use km/h which would be 120) at about 7500-8000 rpms easy. I hear him talking about the Rally being about all out at these speeds and it is franckly disappointing. I am a huge Honda fan with my first bike back in school being a honda. The Zontes is a great commuter but I find the cc's laking for highway overtaking where you need the power to accelarate in overtaking. Seriously looking at the Honda cb500x as that mid size bike.
