The US spends a ton of money on its military and we have a surplus of these vehicles meant for war zones. Politicians from both sides of the fence who like to appear "tough on crime" and "back the blue" thought it'd be a good idea to give that surplus to local police departments for "training" purposes. Fast forward and now we have a militarized police force who often violates the rights of citizens with little accountability.

Yep. That first cop should be a Sgt. or Lt., but instead they have him on desk duty in city hall. And the sad thing is, that is probably the reason he's in there on desk duty. Because he is honest, and has integrity, and wouldn't fall in line to back the blue no matter what corruption they are committing. Those good officers never get promotions.

Both that officer in the parking lot, who at first didn't want to identify himself until you asked for and he saw the supervisor, and the supervisor were hostile and could've escalated that situation easily. I'm glad things didn't go south quick cuz I thought the city hall walk through went as well as it could go. Especially thanks to officer hall being so hospitable and kind. 😊

I would generally agree. And I lived in Tennessee for many many years. Sadly though, the cops are real authoritarian. I mean subvert the Constitution kind of cops. And I'm not a cop hater or anything like that. I'm just telling the truth. I once saw them rousting a poor guy who is simply wearing a t-shirt that says I need HELP CAN YOU DONATE. This cop got so mad at him he was shaking and everything. They literally was telling him to take off the shirt or they were going to arrest him. I ended up calling police station and speaking to their superior. I told them that man had every constitutional right to where the t-shirt. I also told him I was going to bring that man in if I can find him again to file a complaint against that cop. Well, the superior, I forget his rank told me he agreed with me it is a constitutional right to wear any freaking shirt you want. And he said he would get back to me. He said he went to see the video footage, and the cop had turned it OFF. He was honest with me about it at least and he was clearly very disappointed in the officer. He assured me the officer would be disciplined go in his record. He seems genuine, he could have been lying to me. But he seemed like a good guy. Anyway, I never could find that poor homeless man again. You see in Tennessee there so bad with being on the edge of fascism.. IF you are standing on a public sidewalk with a sign they will arrest you. Well Will give you warnings once or twice and THEN ARREST YOU. Obviously that right there is trampoline on your rights. But then they want to get mad when someone is clever and simply wears a t-shirt asking for help. Anyway, you might think well that's just one cop and one example. But I could write a whole book about all the things I've seen with cops in Tennessee. Not to mention, in public places and forums people seem generally polite. But I'm telling you you can't hardly trust anyone. So many of them are secretly on drugs or even making drugs behind closed doors... Ready to cheat you or screw you over at a moment's notice. Very hard to trust ANYONE. That's just a sad truth of it. Most people are pretty much a holes that don't care about their fellow man. But they're able to put a good face in front of the world. As if they're good Christians and all of that. I'm saying in Tennessee if someone's even standing near a convenience store on a public curb and says "I sure wish somebody would get me a sandwich I'm so hungry" 98% of people who walk by won't care. They will even look angry and be ready to spit on the guy. And at some point cops will come and arrest the guy if he doesn't leave that curb. Even though it's your absolute right to stand on a curb and pretty much say ANYTHING. THAT is Tennessee. Don't get me wrong though, there's beautiful country in tennessee. But there's no way I would live under those authoritarians EVER AGAIN

@@evanbroox True that! Which is why free citizens monitoring their government must be able to do it anonymously. The power imbalance is the problem & our forefathers granted protections that apparently Tenn doesn't care about. This policy has to be addressed by the people of Tenn. Write letters, picket, attend city council meetings, meet with the mayor & let them know your grievances with this unconstitutional policy. Or find a lawyer & sue them. I think they frankly prefer lawsuits since it's usually the only thing that seems to get their attention.

I'm thinking about working on reducing the funds that go to my local PD. There's no way this place (not Murfreesboro) deserves $5M in funding. This is a real "defund the police" moment.

Tennessee has a ridiculous open records law. If I am on business in Tennessee, I am going to be paying Tennessee taxes. I would expect to be able to get any public records related to my trip. Note to self, don't do business in Tennessee, especially business that relies heavily on public records, such as construction.

@@theBear89451 The amount of federal dollars these towns get for all sorts of things is way understated as well. Guarantee that building got built on grant money paid for by federal dollars. The absolute arrogance of that records official was repulsive. He'd be working in an asbestos ridden, run down dump if it weren't for the federal taxes we all paid.

The law says the custodian "may" (not "shall") require a photo ID. It doesn't have to be a driver's license. If you don't have a photo ID, other forms are acceptable. A city cannot have laws that usurp the state laws. TCA 10-7-501.

Hey, I live in Murfreesboro,TN, I always like your audits, your a beast!! I’d love to do one one day, but I’ve been in trouble with law before, and my wife says it’s not a good idea, 🤔 buts it’s all good, man keep up the great work and I support the audits 1000%. I got into looking at audits cause I didn’t know my rights so I lost them, now, I do and now I’m more prepared because of your videos!!! Thanks for all the content!!!

Intimidation fail by Sherriff's dept folks. Darn. And they had their hardest faces on, too!! They sure want to get IDs over in the department for "open" records requests. Why? That's a shame, Tennessee. I don't have a driver's license, myself. It's quite a luxury for a poor, disabled person. I really liked the officer at reception area of City Hall. "Good going" (atta boy!) for the local PD officer outside of the radio station, where the training exercises were going on.Thank you LIA!
