I've been rocking shadow mages since season start, glad to see them get their flowers. Very cool guide, thanks for the update. Question: Is the golem the main reason you stack minion attack speed and use Shadow Mage upgrade 1 instead of stacking Extra Mage Projectiles and use Shadow Mage upgrade 2? Or is there a mechanic with the extra projectiles (like not proc'ing Shadowblight) making them less worthwhile that I'm missing?

love the updates on both guides. I have been trying regular minion build so far, and was not a fan of the blood orb two aspects to try to reduce cooldown, wasnt seeing enough value there. the new changes look great on that guide. as for shadow minions, i wish I tried this build first. it looks a little tankier and the new changes look awesome. plan to try it when I get the right stats on separate gear pieces

Can you clarify on what is the best combo for DPS? also, I have been having this incredibly high damage crits, a bit ago I just shaved 80% of the HP bar of a Pit Boss (t95) in one hit. What lvl of pit are you farming? A bit worried that it will not reach higher levels in the pit. Doing lvl 65 with the golem version and could probobly reach lvl 100 pretty easy.

since we have a pull already with corpse tendrils, could we lose the blight pull aspect and add in the bone storm duration aspect or the skellies do shadow damage aspect? both would help with bone storm/shadowblight, these both feel like good options to me, but i may be missing somthing

I'm new to playing a necro in D4 and a little confused as to why you would use a wand over a one-handed sword - is it for the additional .10 to attack s per second? Wouldn't the additional +17.5% Critical Strike Damage from the one-handed sword be better? Thx!

+17.5% Critical Strike damage is, depending on your character's current gear, less than a 1% damage increase. 10% Lucky Hit generates more Hewed Flesh and Abhorrent Decrepify procs directly translating into a far more than 1% damage increase.

Every skill has a 3% Overpower chance except the skills that guarantee an Overpower. Bone Storm doesnt do that.

This. I would have liked a better progression setup - the shadow minion build / curse rolls is given as endgame and pit build with 12/12 gear. After I recreated everything, the disappointment came. the overall dmg doesn't feel strong even with fully maxed gear. It's annoying that you invested a lot and in the end the result is not satisfactory, like in other builds that have far more DPS.

Thats what you get for not recreating the most up to date version. This video is old, there are far more recent ones than this. Also you should have followed the Maxroll guide since that one is always up to date with the best possible build for every situation.

The last Update for the maxroll guide / shadow curse minion build was on the 5th june - so the build is also old or not updated. and I remain true to my opinion that the curse build is a mixed bag build and has significantly worse endgame scaling than pure mages or golem.

I've got a noob question. From the tempering option that gives skeletal mages dmg we have the "Summoning damage" too. That damage increase is just for the active of the summoning skill (for example golem active) or is an increase for the damage of the summoned minions too? I have 2 pieces at 4/5 tempered rerolls with summoning damage and I'm afraid to waste last reroll and get golem damage instead of mages, but if "Summoning dmage" is just for the active effects... I will be better risking to get golem dmg than staying like this I guess 😂 Ty for the help!

Summoning dmg increase dmg for all your minions. Not only active golem. It's just hybrid option between skeleton mages and golem.

Summoning damage increases all damage your summons do. Ideally you go "Damage to Cursed Enemies" on the new pieces you find to have a bigger number.

If i have a pretty far progressed version of your other minion build, the one that uses golem+crit, and also a. all stat-critted shako, would a swap to this build be the overall better option? Can clear up to maybe lvl 90 pits atm

No, choose one or the other. I actually went the Golem route and it's shredding everything. This might be statistically a fraction better on the spreadsheet but doing Golem is just fine!

Answering my own question. I think it’s because the inherent Lucky Hit chance on wands is more beneficial than the crit chance on a sword for example. Lucky hit can reduce some of the cooldowns, DOTs don’t benefit from crit. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

I'm confused. The build you are showing does not spec blood mist, but in the gameplay that is being shown, blood mist is clearly being used. As I have been playing the maxroll version of the spec, I notice I am dying quite a bit due to lack of toughness (mainly due to my gear), so a defensive skill like blood mist would help out a lot. Is there anywhere where I can find the build that you are using for Pits 50+ with blood mist specced?

Why is it so important to increase the Minion AttackSpeed when you already reach 45% with the Frenzied Dead aspect? With a cap of 100% you have to achieve a total of 55% attack speed on the gear or the aspect is not included in the cap. So basically a cap of 100% and then the aspect with 45% = 145% attack speed? Second Question: Is it possible to use the Aspect: AphoticAspect instead of the Bonestorm for BlightetAspect? On the one hand, Bonestorm has a fairly high CD and you always have to be close to the opponents. With ApothicAspect you might have Blightet constantly active and therefore more flexibility Thanks

Frenzied Dead goes in Attack Speed bucket #2, so disregard it for the first 100% from gear and other sources. Sure you can do that but its going to be worse. You dont have to be close to the opponents cause your Golem also has a Bone Storm on it. Blighted wont be constantly active in any way unfortunately!

i love this, but i am missing bone prison, it used to come up so fast and it keeps the adds off you and control just seems better but giving it a try. Only thing i miss is Temerity shielding when running, both are good builds.

I've seen you doing 70 pits in 8 mins while I can easily do 90s in that time with the golem build (without holy bolt), I know you're playing HC, but still, most people aren't. The position that these two builds are in the tier list makes no sense at all, it's just misleading people that don't know any better.

This compared to regular Golem focused endgame necro? Which is better?

Only problem in the game are bosses and Control has a pretty low uptime on bosses. Territorial is permanent. If you think Control is worth during boss stagger then you can take it.

i found a mistake in the mobalitics website: i have a chest with 3 ranks golem mastery (improved stat), now i masterworked it and lvl4 gave me golem rank 4 and lvl8 gave me golem rank 5. so second masterworking already increases to 5, not like the website says it stays 4. can someone confirm masterwork lvl 12 gives rank 6? i don't have the mats to test it yet, and i would have to get lucky ;)

Am I misunderstanding how attack speed works to gain maximum cult leader benefits. I know there are two pots for attack speed, but I thought you could say have 50% attack speed in either pot and they would add together for the cult leader node. Is this incorrect and you have to hit 100% attack speed in either pot 1 or 2?

Attack power is the most bait stat in the game. Never look at it. %dmg is always active and also on your minions BUT since its always active it has the lowest number.

Everything do almost no dmg in pit 100+ (I mean to boss, cause with this build I can reach boss in about 7-8 mins). Then you spend like 8 mins to complete a boss only to get one shotted meanwhile. For me only way to complete later pits is to use holy bolts and reset dungeon if there is boss without adds. So I can only pass Seahag, Hivemaster and Slither. I'm currently on 120. With holy bolts, I reach boss in about 4 minutes and then destroy boss in about 30 seconds. Blizzard have no idea how to balance the game. They literally reskinned AoZ but forgot we have no damage glyph right now. We have no damage at pit 100 and there are 150 pits after that, right? Cannot wait for their fix on holy bolts to make it impossible. And then they will add damage glyph midseason again, to grind 50 hours. Mark my words.

The temper stat : + dmg to cursed enemy doesn't show up anywhere on the stat list, ive been swapping out my old golem damage for the increased damage to cursed enemies and build feels weaker ngl you sure this increased damage to cursed bucket it better ? Why doesn't it show on character stats ?

All additive damage is one bucket. Damage to Cursed affects your Golem AND Mages. Thats the point of the change.

personally ive had better results with using corpse explosion over tendrils and army of the dead over bone storm...but i have the ring that auto summons and the amulet that makes blight shoot 4 projectiles....if you build for shadow DoT and general DoT...you can just throw blight on the screen and watch enemies melt. like...i pop army of the dead...decrepify a boss...send golem...and spam 5-6 blights and its over lol...with insane shadow DoT you dont even need tendrils...everything is CCd and blight dissolves them in under 2s usually.

You don’t need shadowblight because you get it with bone prison on a legendary aspect that does multiplicative damage while in the shadowblight

You are talking about Blight. Shadowblight is the Key Passive and this build revolves around that. There is no space in this build for Plunging Darkness to use Blight with Bone Prison in my version, but feel free to change that. This does not make this or the other build „wrong“.

Cause it scales both Golem and Mages and then you can take both multiplier on gear.

why switch to Shadow when Army of Dead gives same +Damage aspect

it just doesnt scale and you cant temper it...i used it til about level 60 or so.

You play this build and reset Bone Storm.

minion attack speed bonus masterworked 3 times on mainhand and offhand, you should change this. this is a 1/125 chance each, and with this high costs currently, literally noone will ever have this to reach 100 attack speed. i know you want to save an aspect, but this is for the 0,001% players...

@@Chronikz i thought aspect of frenzied death, but you have it on mainhand. to get to 100% minion attack speed. i get it now, your point is get as many attack speed as possible

Frenzied Dead goes into the 2nd Attack Speed bucket. Disregard it in your calculations.

That crit damage amount to 0.5% - 2% of your overall damage depending on your gear, its basically nothing. The wand‘s lucky hit does way more than that.

I'm trying to replicate this build, i'm currently at lv.80, obiously i'm faaar from perfect, but... how it is possible i cannot even complete a lv20 pit without suffering? I explode regularly, my minion doesn't do enough damage, it is an horrible experience. I switched from werewolf tornado druid to necro because i wanted to feel the power, but this is much worse... clearly i'm doing something wrong but i repeat, i should complete lower level pit no problem, i think...

@@Chronikz i miss the aspect of the barrier on bone storm, which is important, i know, but it's strange that a lv.20 pit mob can oneshot me with a pool of poison, for example (i have all resistance and armor maxed). I tried to put the best in slot stat on the items and i only have 13k HP, but that's the build... And yes, i press raise skeleton like crazy.

I would say going shadownminions but focusing on golem damage still is better. I tried shadow mages and it felt ok but not near as strong, and Macrobioboi released a video going over shadow minions focusing on golem and he also said he thought it was superior to mages. At least for harder content at least. Mages feel good for lower content.

Shadow Mage for long term DPS. Golem for burst DPS. I prefer Golem.

What about going hybrid with the Aphotic aspect and using the all summon dmg tempering stat?

Btw you have blood mist in your video and it's there NO blood mist in this build... as always, they give you a build that they don’t use themselves
