A single-phase motor starter typically includes a starting capacitor in order to help the motor overcome its initial inertia and start rotating. This is necessary because single-phase AC power, unlike three-phase power, does not provide a rotating magnetic field on its own, which means that single-phase motors can experience a momentary loss of torque during startup.
By adding a starting capacitor to the motor circuit, the motor can temporarily store electrical energy and use it to create a phase shift in the start winding, which in turn generates a rotating magnetic field and helps the motor start rotating. However, if the starting capacitor remains in the circuit for too long, it can cause the motor to draw too much current and overheat, which can lead to damage or failure.
To prevent this from happening, a resistance can be added in series with the starting capacitor. This resistance limits the current that flows through the capacitor and prevents it from remaining in the circuit for too long, thus ensuring that the motor starts up smoothly without overheating.

அந்த ரெஸிஸ்டன்ஸ் வேல்யு 47K, 2Watt அதன் உபயோகம் என்னவென்றால் நாம் ஸ்டார்ட் பட்டணை அழுத்தி மோட்டாரை ஆன் செய்யும்போது ஸ்டார்ட்டிங் கெபாஸிட்டர், ரன்னிங் கெபாஸிட்டரோடு இணைந்து துண்டிக்கபடும்போது, ஸ்டார்ட்டிங் கெபாஸிட்டர் முழுதும் சார்ஜ் ஆகி விடும். அந்த கரண்ட் 30வினாடிகளுக்குள் டிஸ்சார்ஜ் ஆவதற்காக அந்த குறிப்பிட்ட வேல்யு ரெஸிஸ்டர் இணைக்கப்படுகிறது. அந்த ரெஸிஸ்டர் இல்லையென்றால், மறுபடியும் அடுத்த முறை மோட்டாரை ஆன்செய்யும்போது ஸ்டார்ட் பட்டணில் அதிக ஸ்பார்க் ஏற்படும், ஸ்டார்ட் பட்டண் காண்டாக்டரில் கரி பிடிக்கும், இதனால் ரன்னிங்காயிலுக்கு கேடு வருவதற்கு கூட வாய்ப்பு உண்டு.
