SÓLSTAFIR are not like any other band. Their latest album, 'Berdreyminn' underscores this statement. As its title "a dreamer of forthcoming events" aptly describes, the four Icelanders have taken their already impressive evolution one step further. The band has continued to amalgamate haunting melodies, psychedelic phases, as well as strong undercurrents of classic rock and hard rock with echoes of their metal past. Yet SÓLSTAFIR's focus is not on style but pure emotion. 'Berdreyminn' is eclectic by a conscious choice to make feelings audible and transform taste as well as texture to sound. Genre borders are not broken but simply ignored. Musical influences are gathered from a wide range of sources, re-arranged, and woven into new patterns. Melancholy, longing, anger, joy, pleasure, pain, and other emotions are fulling this album.

Gen O'Cide i always sense both desperation and hope ,anger ,passion ,(-vocals or rythm ,it doesnt matter)- whenever i listen to them, thats the very reason why their music is unique for me.

Almost made me cry when I saw them alive and Bjorn started talking about the meaning of this song. Also, live it sounded a lot heavier towards the end. Now it's my favourite from the new album.

I enjoy it quite a lot to be honest. The melody sounds good to me, it has a strong ambience and the vocals, while (intentionally) sounding a little shaky, add to the overall feel of the song. A certain level of imperfection has its own charme and doesn't spoil the experience for me. It makes it all the more exciting.

Liked the track. When it comes to great bands such as solstafir i'l wait for the complete record to say if it's good or not. From the two tracks i heard so far it seems that the band is taking another step in their evolution.Good or bad time will tell.I enjoy progress as long as the essence is the same and i get the same vibe from the band.Untill now this track(and the previous) felt like solstafir ,yet it has a more possitive rock vibe and not so much the gloom of the past.Thats not bad hell i wouldn't be writing almost a paragraph if solstafir weren't a great band.Hope to see you guys live again in Greece or abroad(maybe waken again?).Do whatever the fuck you want and if its from the heart people will enjoy it.

I can't understand the criticism this album has received. Yes, there's no Gummi anymore. Yes, the style is different. But hell does this album rock! This particular song in my opinion is the best in this album and one of the best of their career. My thesis is that people are simply afraid of change.

I still love Adalbjorn's voice, but I'm not feeling the music at all. I'm not going to pretend that I have any idea what transpired between Gummi and the rest of the band but whatever transpired it was unfortunate. Katla has a lot of the sound I've always liked, but it's still missing some of those essential elements that have made Solstafir great. I'm not about to hop on a bandwagon and say I support one side or the other, but between these two songs I'm not likely to buy this new album. I hope they can work out whatever it was in the long run, because right now it sounds like we have two halfs of one great band.
