@irokeifa- Omo Oba.....if you know all these people then you may know me....I played with M.F. Olayinka and just spoke with him earlier today in Lagos. Myself, M.F. Olayinka and the late S.F. Olowokere went together to break bread with Fela at Kalakuta Republic almost 40 years ago. I'm sure you know Labinjo Street where we played and Adeolu Akinsanya also play on the 2nd floor.....Know Tiamiyu Ayan? Was with M.F. Olayinka before he jump ship to Sunny Ade...oh well...I was taught how to play bass guitar by S.F. Olowokere's guitarist simply known to me as brother Sunday.......Life/people and top of that GOD....I'm grateful.....I have some oldies including S.F Olowokere's album here in Atlanta titled, "Igba mi jelede, yungba yungba..remember....time to roll....Ten Cheers to Nigerian Music..

Thanks EgbaAlake for this posting, I have been looking out for it for so long. I remember S.F Olowookere very well he used to play for Bata Shoe Factory staff in Ojota, Lagos and as a teenager working in Bata then I used to be the errand boy sent to him at his house some where in Ketu and would also take him and his band boys to the venue of the party(s) to which he has been invited. He played severally for my late uncle. i remember a particular party at Ilaro where S. F was playing and it was time to call the muslim for prayer and he was told to stop playing until after the prayer, he told the Imam not to worry and he used a song to invite the muslim faithfuls for prayer, at the end of the prayer the old Imam sent some money to him. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.

Now you know where Black Americans in the United States and the Caribbean get our talents from. It’s a West African thing.

It is so sad that S. F. Olowookere passed on last year. I remembered the man vividly while growing up in Lagos Island when he was under the management of Chief Jide Smith (Easy Life Group of Orchestra) together with Sunny Ade, M. F. Olayinka, Sunny Agaga, Sir Monsur, etc. .

Thanks for sharing this fine Juju song. It is awesome, this music could pass for Ayinde Bakare or Tunde Nightingale Juju style. S F Olowokere's name surely rings a bell to my ears, One of the Juju pioneers i guess.
