S.E.R. System Test 13: BREAK GLASS FOR KEY
S.E.R. System Test 13 features Siemens fire alarms/pull station and the demonstration of my new STI break glass for key container. Special thanks to one awesome subscriber who sent me this new device to use on my system! Like and subscribe if you found any of this interesting!
Note: The pull station in this test was converted to conventional, then reconverted back to addressable with a module made for EST panels. This is because Siemens addressable devices only work with their according panels, which does not include the Kidde FX-64. I should have elaborated further on this in the video.

1:15 I Like how grant just dropped the keys to the control panel 😂
I'm a first responder myself and I always carry a glass breaker just in case when doing fire alarm tests I also work as a fire alarm system inspector
Another great video! All things that say "Break glass" But they are plastic! especially fire extinguisher cases..
Yes I’ve Been Waiting For The UMMT Sooo Long! Thank You!
I found one of these used on a Washington ferry boat I work on in my summertime. It holds the keys to the lifejacket locker room. if there is an emergency, people can get into the lifejacket locker room and get the lifejackets, but it keeps unauthorized personal without another key from tapering/entering the lifejacket locker room.
Hey, just found your channel. I've not been able to work due to COVID-19 for a month or so already and I'm so restless. This is giving me something interesting to do with my time. I love hearing all the different alarms and stuff! I just have to watch not to drive my boyfriend insane! 😂
Omg Yass another video! I’ve been waiting for another upload and more fire alarms!

Having plastic instead of glass is pretty cool imo. Because it seems like it breaks more "orderly" rather than glass, which usually breaks into a million pieces and some fragments of glass can be large, and others can be extremely small and "unseeable" (I've had the misfortune myself of being cut by those pieces bcuz of how small they are 🙁. so Rule of Thumb is: if you DO have a legitimate glass break pull, remember to either vacuum really well or have something to catch nearby 😉). Plastic however can be pretty sharp as well, so that does mean you still have to be careful with that too lol Great video!

This was the old days for me. Ummt on FWR Faraday F1gT pulls and a Faraday MPC-2000 system
I like how it seems to be more safe but you could say glass is more quicker and easier to break, plus cheap plastic can melt / deform in heat. I like glass more, not only since it is an old practice, but because of how dramatic it makes things, it sets the mood for me lol.
Nice upload! Glad to see that everything is doing well at this very stressful time for most people.
That’s pretty cool! I like it!

Plastic is definitely better than glass. Safety first! I’d really like to see a test with Low Frequency sounders in the future

Plastic is stronger, and companies like gent with their push stations use glass and put a little coatings over it which prevents you from cutting yourself, glass rules,
Nice!
Very good
You should add an outdoor fire alarm outside of your garage, that would be cool
Very nice
It seems the fire alarm community has been less active, welcome back
I really like the break glass key holder. I haven’t seen them before. Also I like that strobe a lot
That’s cool
Btw the controller for the fire alarm(s) is like the sprinkler system in Jade’s office(for Latchkey in Cheyenne, WY)
Wow that fire dril is cool

Can you put up a Potter SH-120?
Both my elementary school and high school had these alarms. They were all set to code 3, and when the building echoes due to a lack of carpet, these get pretty annoying.
Wow so much it is so good I love it. You should move the switch I need it. I love when you break the last. If you put it back again the first part is get extra keys. I love you I wish I had, it
How to you bit the break glass for key in the Wall do u have to wire it up to work
What fire alarms are you gonna install for system test 14 ests or truelalerts or pc2rs wheelock exceder
Another upload! 😁
The ummt on fwr sounds interesting
What if bells were used in this system? I’m interested in a 2901-9720 or similar
Yes! Like in my school
Can you upload more please
Can u do a test with a true alert speaker strobe and horn?
It would be cool if you could make a cover that is made out of glass that breaks into cubes, like a car window.
The full model number of both of your UMMTs are U-MMT-MCS-R which is the one with the fire lettering on the front, and multi candela and U-MMT-S17-R which is the one with the fire lettering on the sides and fixed candela
The High school i go to has Siemens UMMT'S with same pull stations, it has code 3 then a constant beep beep beep beep, can u simulate that on next video with the Siemens UMMT?

Hey SER Safety! I love your videos and I'm actually having trouble getting my fire alarms wired up. What size wire would you recommend for a hobby system that has no panel, 3 notification devices, and one pull station? I tried a 10 gauge which my neighbor gave me but it's too thick.
@SERSafety

I usually use 12-14 gauge fire alarm wire.
My high school has a Siemens Ummt in the lowest floor its the last one in the building left
Hey thx for being a firefighter
You need some old school simplex 12inch fire bells. One bell is all you need instead of two three buzzers.

*BREAK THE EPIC GLASS FOR KEY*
wow middle school days
Hope you wore hearing protection. Because I find this to be louder then the SpectaAlert Advanced.
Why can’t they use those for key activated stations. Like have the key in the break glass case available near key stations for systems with all key activated stations
@SERSafety
4 жыл бұрын
Generally, key activated systems are used in places where they don't want the public to be activating the system, such as jails. With key activated systems, I could see one of these being placed in a private location however, just in case one of the employees forgets to carry their keys.

I think the most annoying fire alarms out there are the system senor spectralert advance/L series, the Siemens UMMT-MCS, the Gentex Commander 3, or the Wheelock EH
If the box opens easily to replace the plastic, then why break it in the first place, when you can just open it ? That doesn't make any sense.
