When you’re thinking small, drill isn’t dead. But if you want to be a huge artist that breaks different markets and has a career with real longevity , drill is definitely dead. Drill is a local success genre. It’s hella rappers in Chicago still doing drill and they aren’t getting far. Look at Juice or Chance for an example. They took a different music route and had larger careers than 95% of all drill rappers in Chicago. I see so many rappers everyday in the city and they may make noise locally but you can tell they’re never going to truly excel as artist because drill is a limited ceiling market.
