RZR Pro R Takes on the Baja 1000 Race - Wayne Matlock

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Looking back on this year’s Baja 1000 in the Polaris RZR Pro R, I can’t help but feel incredibly blessed to be part of this program. We did not end up with the position we set out for, but we did get the new Polaris RZR Pro R to the finish line of the longest non-stop off-road race in the world. The things we learned at this event will make us stronger in the future and help us push the new Pro R to the top of the box where it belongs. I want to thank Polaris for trusting us and giving us the opportunity to debut the Pro R in Baja. I also want to thank our other sponsors that made this project happen and our team for all the help before this event. The long nights and weekends you guys put in got us to the starting line; your determination, attitude and spirit got us all to the finish line.

To answer the shock problem……….The problem was the shocks were coil binding do to the main Springs being too short. In our initial testing we knew the numbers were close but 14” springs were unavailable. We ended up having to add a little more preload to the front end then we initially thought, and that caused the springs to coil bind. When they started to coil bind it started pounding on the joint between the clevis and the shaft. This caused the threads to loosen up and then fail. it also caused us to break two of the lower spring retainers. This was purely an aftermarket set up problem that has already been resolved

Well....I for one would rather hear about this car completing a race (albeit not in the position desired) than listening to another builder talking about perfecting gearbox linkages, hydraulic fittings, and the changes made to their website for ordering. Just remember....you'll never lose a race if you never race. Now that this car is getting into the publics hands, we'll see soon enough where it shines and where it doesn't!

It would be nice if you shared what issues you had on this semi stock, brand new edition, you purposely refrained from telling your audience. Not nice.....

The turbo kits for these things are gonna be insane. 1000hp Pro R? No problem. Put new main caps, new rods, new pistons, cams, oil pump, ported head, beefy fuel system, and a big turbo and you're good to go
