RZR 170 Transmission Rebuild

There's not much info online about the Polaris RZR 170 transmission. My kid busted his on a hill about 14 miles back in St Paul, VA. Here you can see a small portion of the rebuild that I had to do. Hope this helps some others. If your not good mechanically this undertaking may require a knowledgeable friend or a dealer (ouch). But it's honestly not bad to do. Parts from Babbitts...

It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure I put it down so the oil could flow into the bearing

Wish I could see which spacer you are referencing. Unfortunately this was several years ago when I did this rebuilding process so I can't really remember every part.

Hey Clint Great video!! I’m having an issue after pulling my transmission to inspect it.... after putting it back together, it goes into both forward and reverse but sometimes it’s hard to get to come out of either gear? Any idea? It even broke one of the cables

That's a tough one, I'd venture to say something on the inside dealing with the shift fork has to be in a bind. Maybe need to pull it back out, run through the tear down/rebuild again and see if there's anything bent also. Good luck with it!

I am rebuilding my sons and there is a round spacer thing I don’t know where it goes. It fits on the shaft for the gears that go near where it all goes to the sprocket. Can you help? The manual don’t show where it goes

Do all the bearings need to be pressed in.

I'm 99% sure that didn't use my press for anything, just used some grease and tapped them in with a small rubber mallet. I'd be afraid to press them, the housing is thin in several places and may crack if you're not really careful. Good luck on your rebuild, hope this helped...

The rear axle shaft got a slight bend, which caused the chain to put too much tension on the transmission output gear and tracked the aluminum housing while we were on a trail ride. The housing splitting caused the gears to strip. So it also filled with water, mud and such which destroyed the bearings.
