I think they used that old trick where they render the whole room twice and then make the floor texture semi-transparent to create the illusion of a mirror image, which is why the characters themselves don't have a reflection.

AFRO THUNDER i mean the sheer amount of concussions, head trauma, and brain damage that this man shouldve suffered is astounding. The fact that he’s alive is nothing short of a miracle.

I remember this boss fight nearly made me rage quit the game back in 06. I sometimes still hear Mark Hamill screaming "HAVING FUN, KAZUMA!?" in my head lol

0:57 It was this scene that made me realize that Majima always had depth to him. Don’t get me wrong, stories can work with one-note villains but I think the writers were always planning on Majima being a tragic character later down the road.

When I played this all those years ago on the PS2, it's what cemented my love for the game, and Majima in specific. It's my favorite and most nostalgic boss fight for that reason alone. I just fought him in the darkness because it was fucking awesome.

One thing I like to do is watch these videos, and then go and watch the Kiwami version of the same fight, and be amazed at how far Sega has brought this franchise. It's pretty incredible.

Originally they didn't even wanted the game to be made, the creator of this Franchise believed in this project so much he put his entire career on the line. If the game failed, he would have retired.

Its funny how the ps2 character appearances are so different from their current ones. Majima in the ps2 is slightly overweight, shorter in height, his jacket is a different color, his face is longer and his haircut is messier. Now his jacket is lighter, he's taller, his hair is cleaner, his face is more round, and most of all, he lost some weight and his body shape is now lean and muscular. Changes in graphics and time certainly make a difference

It’s comforting seeing a boss from the first game and devilleon opens with tiger drops.

I'd like to point out how Majima sounds normal than in the remakes. Feels weird for him to not sound like a maniac we all know and love

Yeah ive noticed that the PS2 game has some details that 0 or Kiwami doesn't have. A good example is that when you fight Nishiki in Kiwami, the jackets are there for the PS2 but not PS4.

@@arsenal4739 I definitely saw at least one jacket on the ground in the Nishiki fight of Kiwami. I can't remember if there was a second, or if that was just me seeing the same jacket again, but there was definitely at least one jacket on the ground.

This is honestly my favourite depiction of Majima. Here he resembles the best kind of yakuza movie villain. Unhinged, unpredictable, and dangerous. Definitely not written with memes in mind.

I don't think memes were ever the intention, his form of insanity just drifted from genuinely menacing and borderline evil to a more wacky and fun one as he became less of an antagonist

@@shlokwaghela9560 In Kiwami, Majima IS the meme material, and ruins the seriousness of the cutscenes. I mean, Majima in the original is funny too, but atleast he's serious about killing Kiryu. And in the original, he isn't helping Kiryu to perfect the DOD style, Kiryu perfects that by himself.

So many Tiger Drops... most people would call it cheap, but as far as I'm concerned Dodge-ima doesn't deserve to be fought fairly >_> Also didn't you successfully hit the QTE when the floor collapsed? You still took damage.

Guess that means you got to get better at fighting him he's a lot more fun to fight when your at the level that you can actually take him head-on. It amazed me how much I enjoyed fighting him.

A difference I noticed between Kiwami and this is that kiwami is constantly having you mash your A button to get up from getting knocked over but in this you barely get knocked over

I never thought that Majima sounded more unpredictable in PS2 era.

Tiger drop sounds and feels more impactful in here

The ost is so good

Gets better watching Kuroda san play that boss battle and being frustrated how fast Majima and the camera move in this battle 😂 Cherry on top being Ugaki-san watching the whole thing with him

I prefer this version of the boss over kiwami. It doesn’t have majima switch to thug or breaker from 0 halfway through the fight.

Majima has more moves here than during his first fight. I don't remember the double slash, the jumping on top of Kiryu or the dive stab being in his first fight.

After playing this version back then vs the remastered version this game has came a long way. One thing for sure I always got my ass whooped by Majima on the original version tho 🤣🤣🤣

This theme is so great,i was dissapointed that they didn't used this version for the boss battle in Kiwami. ( Even tho they used it later )

I kind of wished they used the HD 1&2 remix, for at least one of Majima's fights in Kiwami. That remix was fantastic and had a very... Emotional feel to it

was komaki tiger drop possible in the original version of yakuza 1 for PS2? I remembered it being possible in Yakuza 2 (ps2) but not for Y1. Was just wondering if this was something new added to the HD version of the game.

God how much I hate this boss fight. Majima dodges all your moves, literally all, also deals a lot of damage and it's pain to defeat if you can't use Tiger Drop. I beated him throwing items like the boulders you can pick up and the drop kick.

I just fought the guy a few hours ago... By the time you get to this fight it doesn't feel so difficult, since you've fought him earlier in the game and you kinda know how he fights
