@HEAT1996 But it must evolve in such a way as to get as many people involved as possible and not in a way as "the strongest will survive". Martial Arts should not have that attitude to survive. "Approximately 90% of people who start jiu-jitsu never make it to blue belt, and 99% of people who make it to blue never make it to black belt." Rener Gracie

In some circles especially here in Los Angeles use of the word " Clan" with the letter K is acceptable. But i totally understand where u are comming from, especially on a wider scale like youtube

Heck you could have done a whole video of the wall behind you guys. A school will work without belts if you have a syllabus that states the learning that you will or have aquired and the parts of each part of the system the reason this would work is because it makes a cohesive whole so graduation of the system is a real possibility. The problem is there is lots of different approaches to the game however the structures each uses is primarily the same so transparency between systems would be normal if you start training as a system, and actually going to another teacher for finer points on certain positions would become a norm. This happened in karate in the 70s and 80s.

Some definitions skew but it has a lot to do with NOT performing to your optimal level. One example is if you've been a blue belt and ready to matriculate to purple, but you play down because you like the competition as a blue so the pressure is off.

In BJJ tournaments, some experienced competitors would register in divisions below their skill/belt level. The sole purpose was to steam roll through the competition and win gold. Not as common these days as most reputable tournaments track their competitors. This practice was known as sandbagging.

Dude, did you have to help perpetuate the scamiest Gracie in the business? Renzo, Rickson, Kron, Galvao.. no one of quality likes these guys. You want people to stop talking shit on 10th Planet in the main community? Don't reach out to idiots like this. This is a guy telling people that BJJ is enough for street fighting, not MMA, not owning a weapon, not being an athlete... Just listen to the car salesman way he talks, it's obvious what's going on. Watch his other vids, watch his hand tied behind his back rolling session or any of his competition vids. Compare any of that shit to Galvao or Kron or Firas Zahabi. These guys don't understand MMA, so they present an alternative, because they can't do it. The only reason someone stands near these guys is to try to gleam a prestige that died out in roughly 1994.

The Gracie's are trying to circle their wagons because they're sinking into obscurity at a time when everyone is talking about either EBI or what grappling actually transfers to MMA
