    Thank you both for your enthusiasm and passion! Your grand father's philosophy is why I started Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Gracie Academy is where I chose to train because of it's playfulness and the school's emphasis on "street applicability." Keeping it real, thank you!!

    I think it's brilliant how close you guys stay after years of being within a family with 'dominance' surrounding it at all times. Constantly trying to be the best. I see my brother once a month tops!...but we have never had to compete. You guys SURELY must have tried throughout all of your youth to be the so called 'favourite' in your Father/Grandfather's eye...yet still you have held the utmost respect for each other and have stayed selfLESS, whilst always being so very proud of the legacy you both carry forward, which I might add would only take ONE jerk to ruin forever... instead of becoming individual big headed assholes!!! I respect you guys so much that words cannot do justice.

    Rener was geeking out hard on the trash removal. I've paid attention to Marcello Garcia, Eddie Bravo and 5 other popular online players but for me, these guys are the overall best at teaching. It's not an easy win, but a win. They are more consistent at addressing things white belts need. That's where they rise, in my opinion. Afterall, white to blue belt is arguably the most important promotion. Fall in love with Jiu Jitsu, as Eddie Bravo says, and see watch what happens.

    Why does everyone keep bringing up 10th Planet vs Gracie Jiu Jitsu? Are you not able to comprehend the difference? They are 2 different systems with 2 different goals. To qualify as Gracie Jiu Jitsu a technique has to fit some criteria, criteria that 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu would not meet. One of which is that anyone should be able to do the technique. 10th Planet JJ is a great system with it's own merits. It was designed not as much for anyone to be able to apply or use in the street as it was as a counter to BJJ. If that's what you are after then 10th Planet may be your huckleberry. Gracie Jiu Jitsu is more for defense for everyone at any age. Both are great systems.

    That Japanese man was a Judo teacher. The Gracies took what is called Newaza from Judo and adjusted and applied it in an alternate fashion where in the focus was on submissions and not only a self defense application but a sport application. It’s a fascinating history that still to this day has so many details and of course one has to commend what the Gracies have done, but never forget BJJ has a great and strong Judo history and there’s is a great crossover between the two. I train both and love them and have great admiration for each style.

    Would this also work from half guard, since the position you end up with using your legs is basically half guard? My concern doing this from side mount is stepping over the leg, since the person on the bottom is often holding their knee high to protect from getting mounted.

    "If two people fight, and nobody wins; the little guy wins" I disagree, because I have met people, who were shorter than me, who also showed a complete disregard for the humanity of others. If such a person was to attack me, and I held them so they couldn't harm me or force me to harm them; then this phrase says he "Wins". Instead I say, "If as few people as possible are injured; then humanity wins." Thank you for your time.

Their point of view is directed to individuals who are good people and are up against the "bad guy" who is bigger than them. I don't think they're too concerned on whether their statement is neutral and universal lol they practice martial arts not philosophy.

    Yes because the Japanese are known for being huge brutes like the Vikings were. Lol my Brazilian professor who has a black belt from Ryan Gracie was laughing when I brought that up because he read my Sarcasm and knee I was right. That's just ingenious Gracie marketing saying that the Japanese techniques were based on strength and size that the Japanese are not really known for possessing.

    5:57 "always south over north leg", can someone explain?

  • @aajb1

    @aajb1

    10 жыл бұрын

    north is Ryron's head, south is his body. In this video the south leg is Rener's right leg, so the north leg (left leg, which is over Ryron's head) gets hooked to the right leg and that way pushing it (to escape) is harder.

    dkf85281 they can also push your north leg further north off their face and scoot their head and shoulders over the north leg to effectively nullify the armlock. You can come up from here but it won't be a stack - you'll be in guard.

  • @MrMZaccone

    @MrMZaccone

    10 жыл бұрын

    You want the leg towards his feet (south) helping to hold down the leg over his head (north). If you do it the other way, then the more important leg holding down his head is on it's own and easier to disengage.

  • @BandakaKush
    @BandakaKush10 жыл бұрын

    So how would you escape that foot lock?

  • @Hexspa

    @Hexspa

    10 жыл бұрын

    This move depends on your far leg being cocked. His arm that reaches around your butt has to go between your ankle and your ass. Since you already know he's switched his base to face your knees then as soon as he starts reaching with that far arm, extend your leg. That way he can't grab your foot with the close hand nor lock it up with that first reaching hand. It's a very telegraphed move and Ryron's specialty which I call "sleepy moves". He catches you doing things you wouldn't ordinarily think make you vulnerable. Most people load up that leg to shrimp toward him for an escape. Any time someone switches their hips like that you should be wary of leg locks anyway. So I don't know how to escape it nor have I been caught in it but you can definitely take steps to prevent it's likelyhood. You could also probably bridge or shrimp in the direction he reaches to make him miss your foot. You'll probably then end up with some space to improve your position.

    Lol carlo was to different bu helio and George Gracie ot oswaldo Gracie just more violent quick and effeyand didn't require wo much teachnique, wrestling,luta livre, catch and judo are teachniques sports and Gracie family did all that sport. Carlson and rolls that make bjj science was also wrestler judokas and sambistas, the traditional judo self defence is quite similar with gjj but gjj just focus is guard and have weak throws and some catch things. George and oswaldo also train in catch and with luta livre founder tatu and helio trained under a catch wrestler name dudu, ameda was also a catch wrestler and give in gracies the vale tudo stages and the grappling philosophy that practice and same this philosophy to all his students like fadda and takeo yano. If gracies learned under Maeda and not from one of his students. JJj have his own philosophy and have a lot mental and spiritual training.

    El Toquinho His eyes...just stare his eyes...I live in Hollywood, I know when someone messes with "Uppers". And I heard it from a 10th planet guy who use to roll with Rener. Said he likes Coke and Xanax.

    Mr. Robot Name the 10th Planet guy or *you are a slanderous liar.* I lived in New York...I've seen plenty of people on uppers, downers, and everything in between. Make yourself a Renergy sandwich and sit your ass down somewhere.

    Mr. Robot LM*B*AO My moniker is a Portuguese word, but I am not from Portugal or Brazil. I happen to study languages, something one with your limited brain power would not do. I am not a Mexican. I don't know _your_ ethnicity - I can just state that you are a bigoted piece of shit and that your comments fit the profile of a suspected white supremacist. So...you're saying that *Joe Rogan* goes around telling people that Rener Gracie is a cokehead. That's interesting! If confronted on camera, do you believe Joe would confirm your accusation? I _love it_ when dummies like yourself talk bold and put their foot in their mouths. You are either A LIAR, or setting your boy Rogan up for a slander lawsuit.
