Ryobi never ceases to amaze me, they always come out with things people want but others always say is impossible. They were the first to come out with lithium batteries for their power tools. Then they were the first to come out with 18v weed trimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, lawn edgers, chain saws, 6ah and 9ah batteries, and finally an 18v lawnmower. But best of all, when they came out with the new lithium batteries they made them so they'd work with all their old tools. Everyone else, DeWalt, Milwaukee, Black N Decker, ect. Screwed over all their customers. They made it so their new batteries didn't work with their old tools so all their customers had to go out and buy all new power tools. So you can feel safe buying Ryobi power tools because not only are they as good as the others, but you know any future new batteries will work with all old Ryobi tools. Not so with other companies like DeWalt.

The battery pack you mentioned in the video before the Ryobi intro and other version like it can have the internal battery replaced. In fact its just a 12v 9ah NaCD battery that you can get at home depot or anywhere. Not many venture into opening up there tools but I repaired back jump packs by simply replacing the internal battery. Not with that said Ryobi has a great tool here with their 18v system. Kudos! If you own other jump packs just change out the internal battery and save some money in the process!

I made a tool like this back in 2014. I used 6 d sized maxwell super capacitor bank with a black and decker 18v lithium ion rechargeable battery a buck converter, a charging module and a cigarette socket to power USB devices. I also put an led light and enclosed everything in a transparent poly carbonate enclosure it measured 6inches high by 4inches wide by 7.5 inches depth. It produced 240 amps and could start all my 4 cylinder cars but if they didn't start in 3 seconds I would have to charge capacitors again and try again they charged in about 35 seconds at about 10v. Lithium iron phosphate batteries became available around then and I abandoned the idea. I used it on my lawn tractor for two seasons. I now use a ithium iron phosphate battery that I bought in 2017 that I use to power my zero turn, diy winch dump trailer, my boat motor and I use it to jump my cars or I can even use it temporarily as a car battery. It's small measures 4high 3width and 5.5 depth. Paid $114 back then.

I own two battery box jump starters. One of them I purchased in 2011, paid $310 for and it still charges flawlessly and holds the charge even in sub zero weather like here in northern Vermont. The other battery box I purchased for $200 two years ago with a built in air inflator and USB charging ports and is a piece of junk.

I like it! It’s pretty damn cool. Couple things though. First when it’s laying on his back on the feet that it’s intended to use, if you pick it up with both hands, the battery door will open and make for an unstable condition. Makes me feel like I’m dropping it. That just makes me jumpy. The battery door doesn’t latch closed. It’s just spring loaded. Also, I thought it might be nice if they were to mold feet into the battery door so that you could stand it upright. Maybe in the next revision. As for that convenient light for working at night - you probably figured this out by now but the second button push makes the light flash. I think for using it as an emergency light on the side of the road? A third push turns the light off. Overall, it’s a hit! I’m very glad with it and thanks for the recommendation. Spot on, spot on.@@ToolReviewZone

Yup, I bought one once the bare tool showed up online. Shop tool reviews started his 454 with it, and that's really impressive. So I have no doubt it can handle a 6.0L. However, one thing I'm curious about is can you use the bypass to jump start something that doesn't have a battery currently attached? I hope so, that way I can use it on toys like my snowmobiles, lawn mowers and dirtbikes, that may not have batteries attached to them at that moment in time.

Problem with DeWalt one is that it has a built in battery that needs to be charged and ready. Problem with those is they have a 3 year lifespan and when you finally need it, it either needs to be charged or the battery lifetime is over. Ryobi uses the battery platform so you can drop in any battery and bam you're good to go. I'm a handyman and have like 20 batteries so for me I always have one ready in my truck.

I got one of them from Home Depot. girlfriend loves it. we have some 18V one plus tools. so for the extra $20 I got the kit with 2Ah battery and charger. so far only had to jump 4Cy car. and with battery tool adapter to DeWalt 20 V MAX battery it fits in and works with DeWalt 20V MAX 4Ah battery . the thicker ones work but the door don't close on battery . I have we more DeWalt 20V/60V MAX battery's than Ryobi battery's . I got adapters both ways. use Ryobi on DeWalt. haven't tried it on Desal that needs glow plugs in winter yet. not shore how that work when you have to turn on key and wait for the light to go off. may take 2 try's ??

If you need a quick jump out in the middle of nowhere then just get the attachment for ryobi battery $20 for the positive and negative wires and add battery clamps to it. If you want to spent alittle more then a secondary 50 ah lifepo4 battery is only $120. There is no point in paying $200 for something you will only use 1 time.
