I'm curious, why did you choose to push forward with the DeWalt, and pull backward with the Ryobi? I'm personally neck deep in Ryobi myself, but this test seems to include extra variables that could throw things off.

it was one of the points I commented with the ryobi vs ridgid vs the dewalt video that I could pull the ridgid backwards an extended length and the dewalt seemed to shut down after a couple of inches. In that video I had already returned the ryobi because it blew up(on video). I just assumed I would be keeping the dewalt because it was the most powerful. Only after trying it I returned them all and thought what if the ryobi has no protection? can it drag backward? So I went and bought another one.

I had messaged Ridgid to ask if their tool had a brake because even though it cut more than dewalt it seemed to stop at strange points but they did not respond at all unfortunately😊😄

The motor drivers can only handle so much till overheating, and if the speed is let fall too low and the tool stays on it will pull even more current. Thus they shut off for temp and current. Needs a bigger motor, or less resistance on the cut. My Milwaukee battery powered grinder does the same thing. You know this is the case if the time between it stalling gets less and less if you keep pushing it.

Did you cut from The exact section? Seem like itvwas a different section?

You can watch the full videos of the ridgid ryobi and dewalt cutting this door the sheet metal thickness is the same throughout....the ryobi cut the thickest part on front of door 2 layers. I made this short video because no one watched the full ones

The tools have to have some sort of cut off because they need stall protection. You are expecting too much out of them. If it's not good enough then that's what a grinder is for.

How about the M12 vs Ryobi ?

Hi that is the question I was really wondering because everyone says the m12 sucks...does it really? If it has no brake like this then it could outrun the dewalt on sheet. But I have the 90 degree grinder and if you push a little it shuts down into overload and the tiny batteries don't last too long....so not sure. 😊

Odd, I didnt have this problem at all. The stall protection works as its supposed to. Let the tool do the work. Forcing it and not keeping it steady is a no-no. I also think there might be an auto stop if it feels a jump/jerk, for safety reasons.

Funny my dewalt cutoff cuts rebar quicker than it cuts theough your sheet metal
