Ryobi lawnmower shuts off fix.

Ойындар

I show how to fix intermittent shutting off issue with Ryobi 40v cordless lawnmower. I just used a T30 torx bit and tightened both handle's at the base. The screws become loose and prevent the handle bar from pushing in on/off safety switch.

I knew it had to be some sort of contact switch causing my brand new mower to cut off everytime i come to an end and lift the mower to make another pass, my 4 year old 40 volt ryobi cordless mower is beat to death & never once had this problem , i got 6 mows out of my new 40 volt mower & it started this shit , i planned on putting it on the work bench & following the wiring harness connections but my mother passed away & i havent had time or even gave a F to even look at the mower , sitting here thinking of a list of things i need while im at home depot got me thinking about the Ryobi mower problem & your video solved my problem , it took me all of 4 minutes to tighten those screws & now the mower dont cut off no matter how rough i threat it , thank you brother .

Ryobi should seriously pay you. Nice, nice camera work and efficient tutorial. Since this appears to be a common issue, vibration is likely a factor. In that case, removing those bolts and applying loctite blue thread locker (not the red in this application) would likely prevent a future event. Thanks again for the awesome video and helping so many people.

I had the same problem, but the switch had failed and no amount of shims or force would make it work. The easy fix was to pop the switch out of the mower with a putty knife. I pulled the wires off and hooked them up to an automotive blade type fuse. Dropped them back down the hole and put the now disabled switch back in its hole. Yes, I bypassed one (IMHO, redundant) safety feature... but it still requires a two step process to start.

Another fix: in my case the screws were tight. Between the handle and the mower you can see the red button that needs to be pressed in. I slid a credit card (expired) between the button and the handle to push the button in even more - and that fixed it. Inspired by this video - thank you.

Thanks, man. I had been buying several batteries a year and it seemed like they would last only for two charges then the mower would shut down every three seconds. I figured I would buy a new battery and a new charger, thinking that the charger could be the problem. This morning, I put in the brand new battery and the mower was still shutting down after three seconds of use. That was the first time it had ever done that on a brand new battery. I then knew that it was an issue with the mower. I watched this video, then unscrewed the bolt off and applied strong tape to the red button to hold it down. The mower started running smoothly again. Thanks again!

This saved me from throwing out my Ryobi and paying $300-$400 for a new one. My Ryobi lawnmower had been shutting on and off for months, so frustrating. For me it wasn't even the bolts on the side as they were still on tight...it was the red fuse thingy! It was more than half way out and very loose. I pushed it back in and no more shutting on and off. Thank you!

Thanks for the video. I've had my lawn mower for 2 years without any issues and when it randomly started shutting off (and knew there was nothing wrong with the batteries) I was thinking it would need maintenance. I found out the bar was just a bit loose which I guess was triggering the automatic shut-off.

Thank you so very much for the video, but that was not the reason for my issue. Because of your video, I began to look at my lawn mower and discovered that on the right side where the handle fits into the metal bracket, there was a gap. I applied your fix, but the bolts you showed were tight. Nonetheless, I decided to check on the bolts attaching the brackets to the mower. They were extremely loose. After tightening these screws, everything went back in place and now I am able to use my mower. Had you not posted your video, I would not have discovered the problem. Once again, thank you so very much.

Yay! Figured it out. Mine was the latch wasn't shut on the arm, but same issue. It was hitting the on/off button. THANK YOU!

Thanks for the video. I had the same issue and this fixed it. On a related note I took the top cover off to check the wiring and the inside was full of spider webs and mini mulch. I took that opportunity to blow all of that out and to check continuity of the circuits. I was about to send it in for warranty work but KZread came to the rescue. Thanks DISHDOCTOR.

Thank you! I just paid $20 for one because it did that. This worked. Now it's like new. The battery alone was worth $70

you're a craftmaster and a solver. I salute you, thanks. but.. shouldn't Ryobi build and test a mower without rickety design flaws before they take their customers money?

ok so i have a newer model, NO bolts, *however* ! this vid still helped me cuz i looked for loose stuff and found something. --> one of the little bright green turns wasn't in the same position as another on the handle. THE PROBLEM: apparently, one arm of the extendy/collapsing handle wasn't latched and so that was what fixed me. i just collapsed handle, re-secured latches and presto! 👍 lawn: DONE. (and about time, too, i was about to get a citation lol)

Thank you so much I thought I was going to have to buy another mover. I wish I would’ve looked this up earlier because I mowed my lawn for way to long with it cutting out every 10 seconds

So, after watching this KZread video and spending 5 bucks at Lowes, I fixed the mower myself in 1 minute. The shop had it for months and couldn't figure it out.

Thanks, mate. I have put off mowing my lawn for like 2 months because it kept turning off and on again. Saved me the hassle to take it into a shop. I was super annoyed because my mower is only like a year old.
