I'm QA at e-commerce, and professionally deal with bugs. And when I imagined HOW MUCH unexpected belt moves will piss me off ... decided to take one without the issue.
Thanks for the review
Have the same sander. No tracking issues

Maybe it's just mine, cause I struggle with it sometimes
Thanks for your video review.
Thanks for the review. I've been sanding my old staircase and have gone through not one but two Skil brand 3x18 belt sanders. After this job I'm hardly going pro or anything so another 3x18 seems in order...especially because I have 40s.80s.120s and 180s that are 18" so it's hard to justify a 21"x3" just in case one is better.

+grey eminence yeah, I understand what you mean. As for Skil, I never go to a store saying to my self "I need to buy a Skil tool" as I never was a big fan of their stuff. The Ryobi is tough in my opinion
Thanks for the video!

Thank you for your video!
Good review, thank's!
i have this for my hobby's
I bought this and it worked well....except that some of the chestnut I sanded was a little wet and it cloged up the inside of the sander.....anyone know how to unclog it....BTW the tracking worked well except on some cheap sanding belts.
What grit sandpaper would you recommend to refinish a deck that is in reasonably good shape?
My tension release lever is broken off. Trying to figure out how to replace the belt without it.
Bought a brand new one it lasted 8 minutes ,changed sand paper ,it will not move the belt when engaged on wood ?
Mine burned out after sanding one small end table made of walnut and epoxy. Think I'll take it back and upgrade to a nicer brand. I usually love ryobi and have never had any issues with their products, bit disappointed in this one.

Wow that's not good Xx. Ridgid makes a nice once for a few dollars more buddy
thanks!! i buy this tomorrow its on sale her where i live :-)
Would this be great for wood floor? Mid size room.
It's "ree-oh-bee" .... I have the same model.. used it to sand my entire disassembled deck to salvage the wood and put back. No problem at all (used #80 grit) ... then used it intermitently without any issues until.... i started not track anymore: won't even come close the knob side and slips out. I disassembled it in an attempt to see why it was not properly keeping the belt centered anymore... with old or new belts. I couldn't fix cuz I think the "stretcher" mechanism is bad - already replaced the spring but no luck... maybe I could make a nice paper weight with it... oh yeah, I agree: the dust collector does a fantastic job and with my complaint, it paid for itself when I did the deck work but I really expected it to last much longer.

Mine actually does a great job. You could have gotten a bad one maybe?
Nice vid
How is it taking paint off.
I'm thinking about buying this today where I get out free with the $99 battery pack. I've never ordered one before. Doesn't it matter which way the sand paper is turned?

Thanks
Have tried Home D, Lowe's on line and cannot find a drive belt replacement . No mention in manual or on company site . Any suggestions ? Oh , and I was told by the tool guy "grey hair '' even that Ryobi ''is just to be used and thrown away'' .....Great support from the store ; NOT!

@@ToolReviewZone but you said it did good?
I bought one less than a year ago. It is no longer working properly. I do not think I will ever buy Ryobi brand anymore. I've had my issues with Ryobi tools, including weed-eaters. For my Ryobi sander, the issue is the gear that turns the belt sander roller found under the sander. I cannot give Ryobi belt sander more than one star. I agree the motor is strong, though, but I think Ryobi brand tools tend to break more often than the other brands. Good luck with yours.

So far mine has been fine. I believe they have a three year warranty to, so I would take it back if you still can

Ryobi stuff doesn’t put up with any abuse unfortunately. I buy ryobi when I need a specific tool for a specific job and just kinda accept that it might die. I bought this to refinish my deck and it’s working well enough but I’m very much expecting it to die by the time I’m done. If you want a tool for life, buy dewalt/Milwaukee/etc, costs more but they’re built better
Is it just the motor on the back that turns? Or is there a motor on the front adjustable nob too?
@ToolReviewZone

Hey christopher, just the one motor on this sander
1:03 you put the sandpaper the wrong way. Probably no big deal
I don’t believe there is something called 320 sand paper in woodworking.
How to remove too clean dust bag.

Thanks for the review, but thumbs down not recycling.
I have one of these, the older model. Total shit. Also have a Ryobi circular saw. Also total shit that can't cut square. No more Ryobi for me.
Don't buy a Ryobi sander, it's crap. I just burnt the motor on mine yesterday. Buy Makita instead, good quality tools.
