Thanks mate. Glad I came across this. I upgraded from a very old 18v unit and had no idea what I was doing (especially with the bump feed) so this video was perfect. This thing literally blew me away on high. I had no idea it was going to be this powerful.

I just bought one of those and the head height is ok for me. Have tough bush grass and cuts it well on the low setting. Light weight, quiet and very powerful, really like it. 4Ah battery big enough also.

solid review mate, was looking at this one but annoying i dont have the right batterys already. Will just get a new one that takes the other batterys, looks like a pain in the ass to get a clean edge.

Great review mate, one thing I don't understand is why the guard only goes halfway around the back and there looks to be an extension piece for the guard that covered the left hand side but where is it? The screw holes are there but there's no mention of it. It's really annoying because I always get hit with stones.

It's very odd they didn't think this through. You can buy the additional guard from Bunnings for about $10. It's called Part No. 314051001 - 16" small guard with blade assembly and you just screw it onto the existing guard, problem solved.

@LegendLength Get an Echo speed feed 400. It’s compatible with this Ryobi trimmer & much more durable- it’s what the pros use

100% worth getting the 4A battery. The 2A is very small and won't last long before requiring charging again.

Thought id post my review after using this only twice, it spins clockwise so if you're right handed everything shoots at your feet, you get about 5-10mins out of it before it shuts it self down, not the battery, after looking online the controller overheats because there's no fan on it, there's one on the motor which is fine, but not on the torque controller, so you have to then wait about 20minutes for it to cool down, DO NOT RECOMMEND

Been using mine for a year now, I've never had any issues with it. In fact, as my review states; it works so well I only use it on low speed and never had any issues. Maybe yours is a different model? Or maybe you unfortunately got a lemon? Take it back for a replacement through warranty.

Something wrong with your unit. I have long hard bush grass and i work it hard. Both the battery and the power head get luke warm only. Never stalls or stops until you run out of juice. Mine is 36V and 4Ah battery.

  • @danieldoyle6001

@orbital486 Brushless is much more efficient & has more power. They also have longer motor life & drain the battery slower

Dam, I've go the lawn mower that uses the same battery and was looking at buying this line trimmer. Don't know why ryobi designed the string to sit so high up on the head. Idiots. Don't know what I'm going to buy now.
