Ryhope Pumping Station - working steam beam engine

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I visited Ryhope Pumping Station for the annual classic vehicle show, but unfortunately the weather was against us. However, the steam engines were fired up and running, and so in this video I put my Fred Dibnah hat on and take a look at this magnificent piece of Victorian engineering.
Ryhope Pumping Station is a Grade II listed building and an Ancient Scheduled Monument.

Great to see shame the weather, it looks so graceful moving you could put a classical piece of music even Albatross by Peter Green would suit it. All Whitworth spanners I bet?

Wonderful to see, well done sir and bravo on the locals getting it preserved. I would have liked to see the actual pump or wasn't that possible?

Thanks for watching. As you say, well done to those who keep the engines up and running. I filmed all areas the public can see. I don't think there is anything you can see of the pump. It consists of a large bucket on each end of the beam with a one-way valve in the bottom. the bucket is plunged down a well shaft and lifts water into a release channel. very simple but effective design.
