I use Ryanair like a bus about 6 times a year and their fares are probably cheaper than a bus. Probably been late once whereas BA, LH etc are nearly always late. I hate the big airports they are just too big now and you always get lost and stuck in massive queues, small airports are better. Why do people go on about service and meals all the time. You are only on the plane on average about two hours. He' s right about European integration nobody has done more than O' Leary. Do I work for Ryanair- no, I work for a rival.

I don’t get the hate against Ryan air, as a broke student Ryan air was my possibility to travel entire Europe. With my parents I always flew Lufthansa, Swiss business class regionally in Europe and the experience isn’t that bad compared to the premium offer especially if you bring your own food, travel without suitcase, are more time flexible, wait for everyone to take a seat then find the best seats available

He's so right about the media's failure in Climate Change reporting. When they want to showcase the future of green energy in transport they show electric cars and autonomous vehicles instead of trains, buses andwalkable cities. Those are the solutions we need to truly decarbonise our transport infrastructure in a significant way.

@@jonjohnson2844 that's a good point and I never considered that. Another angle is, how to get this across without being a bit rude, the legacy idea of air hostess being a glamorous job - which back in the day would have been. So the present hostess for big airlines such as Lufth or Swiss etc are probably holding on to this idea a bit more than they ought to and some if them look like porcelain dolls and they probably want the glamour but not the hauling a cart up and down a cramped aisle or cleaning up vomit etc .

Virtually everyone with the aptitude & intelligence needed to lead a country to a better place usually leave University and go straight down the route of business leadership. Why is that? Because of greed? It's because: 1) Politics is a life of constant public scrutiny & no privacy; everyone in your family becomes an extension of you, making your childrens future careers narrowed massively 2) The responsibility-to-pay ratio is atrocious; you can lead an entire country but you can get paid less than a doctor, let alone a CEO 3) Take where I'm from, the UK. If we paid our MPs £10,000,000 per year instead of £80,000, it would quickly become a more attractive proposition to the talented individuals who would normally steer clear of politics.

Beg to differ on free movement of people being reliant on air travel. I recently did Utrecht to Basel on a 5 hour train ride. Door to door the same as flying, cheaper, and infinitely more comfortable AND relaxed. With flying there are 4-5 queues just to get on a plane - check in, security, sometimes immigration, boarding and random nonsense like ad hoc security checks or health screening. Compare that with 300km/hr on spacious Deutsch Bahn and it’s chalk and cheese!
