It wasn't entirely about slavery, but slavery played a huge part in it. The difference is that most country stars have signed away their "freedom of speech" with a recording contract. They will get dropped and have to immediately pay back the money given to them. Upchurch has no obligation to "appease" these shareholders and can say whatever he wants.

I dont listen to the radio anymore either. The radio stations that say they play country music won't know country if it jumped up and bit 'em in the ass. I grew up in the 60s and 70s I listened to real country pretty much all my life. Maybe David Allen Coe needs to write a new country song for these snowflakes to bitch about. Now there's an outlaw.

I drove to Nebraska to visit my Grandma a few weeks ago and tried to listen to a country station. I didnt even get through one song before getting disgusted and turning it off. Ended up with talk radio for the 9 hours through Kansas. At least when I got to Wymore I ran into a dude at Dollar General with an Upchurch shirt.

“But now I’m voting for Biden and I’m kissing some ass”! I am DYING hahaha!
