Ryan tells how he found out about Devon (his full-blood biological brother) at the age of 15.
In this video, I (Ryan) explain how I found out at the age of 15 that I had a full-blood biological brother. This wasn't anywhere on my radar and I literally had no idea. Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever thought this could be a thing.
Devon was put up for adoption, our parents went separate ways in life, eventually reunited, got married, had 2 more kids (my sister and I)...and years later the discovery happened.

Such a great story! ❤️😃👍Something similar happened to me but I actually knew my younger brother existed but didn’t know where he was. He found us about 9 years ago. We have different moms though. A very long story.

I remember aobut how I found out about all my half siblings. I was also put up for legal adoption, WITHIN my own family. My mother gave me and two others away for legal adoption to HER mother and her Mother's 3rd husband, so I and two others were raised by my grandmother and stepgrandfather.

Great story. I want to know how you got that scar on the side of your head?
@OurNewLand
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Interestingly enough, I was attacked by a dog (an Akita) when I was 9. Luckily it was chained up to a tree or it probably could have been worse. I have 2 puncture wounds in my arm/shoulder, so I guess when he lunged at me, I threw my arm up to block him, one tooth must have grabbed my head ripping back and 2 got me in the arm. I was able to roll away. The scar on my head is pretty straight, except for the end closer to my neck, so it can look like I shaved it intentionally. I had 16 staples and it looked pretty gnarly early on. There were many Vanilla Ice references growing up.
Very interesting.

When your brother sees you, does he feel like he’s seeing his younger self?
@OurNewLand
3 ай бұрын
Great question! So, I (Devon, the older brother) am trying to think of how best to answer this. I think during the first few years after meeting Ryan, I did see him more as a younger brother than I do now. Now, I see him more as my best friend - which he is. Maybe this is a common feeling of brothers as they age? I didn't grow up with a brother, so I don't know. We talk/text with each other several times every day. Our sister and her husband are in the mix as well, as we are all very tight and we think similarly to each other. It really is an amazing experience. Thanks for asking!

So if that brother was put up for adoption, HOW did your mom get in contact with him again, as all the laws that i know of about adoption is that the birth parent is not allowed to contact the kid after its placed for adoption?
@OurNewLand
Жыл бұрын
Hey there, Lauren. Our father had placed his name on the adoption registry years before. Then when my brother added his name, the registry made the match, notifying both parties that they were eligible to be put into contact with each other. Our father then called our mother to tell her. Thanks for watching!
